This has got to be a set up doesn't it? A Volkswagen day at brands hatch (I am assuming VW sponsored) and a young boy driving a new Polo manages to drive onto the track and off again without any body challenging him? Could it be possible that this was organised by VW's marketing department? Were the racers made aware this was happening? I just don't believe this is all as it seems.
Having been to many club meetinga, th security is nothing like you might think. At brands there will be someone in the paddock controlling access to pits via the tunnel, but once you are passed you could easily drive round and onto the pitlane. Then its a matter of simply driving onto the track. Most circuits are the same. Higher security at larger events, but a small club meeting wont have much. Why not? Well it shouldnt be needed

Looks like there's only one person in that Polo driving around the track from this footage?

From inside the car (original footage), there's three people and the girl is constantly tugging the steering wheel from the passenger side and waving her hands around. She can't be seen at all?

Am I the only one thinking that the camera work in that video is actually quite good? Suspiciously good confused

It all looks very dodgy, you would think there are tons of videos and photos of the incident now everyone at a race has an SLR camera with HUGE lens or a phone with a good camera on.

I'm suspicious on the very professional zooming and stability of it.

I'm also suspicious of the fact that the Polo stays off line and isn't all over the place. Then again nobody in their right mind would stage this as a 'stunt' just in case something went wrong, and you certainly wouldn't have a bell end like that talking all over your PR stunt. Very strange.

to quote Woof from the UK club thread.

'Onboard video from the car that he passes in the pitlane'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31TahFol7Ks

Edit to add, that the cars that pass in all 3 videos seem to be same at the same points so its defiantly all the footage from the same time incident.

I'm also going to add, the camera work from the external view is very unprofessional, there's also a running commentary going on and I presume for broadcast? Where was this broadcast, no TV company icon on screen or info of ticket tape etc.

Both commentary and camera seem suspicious as if reconstructed in cliché way. Doesn't sound like a guy that's naturally commentating.

I find it impossible to believe that VW's marketing people could possibly have agreed to it. Besides, if it was a pre-planned stunt then every Fun Cup entrant would have to have been told about it at the drivers' briefing.

Why is there so little commentary from the driver as he's following the polo up the pit lane?
Surely he'd have something to say about it?

ETA even PH is in on it smile
The posting page has a pic of a white Polo with a black and white Great Dane

Neither these morons nor Brands Hatch come out well in this video.
The most competent person (in relative terms) involved was the girl who people seem to have been slating earlier.

Brand's real failing lies in not understanding just how far society has declined while disposable income has risen, meaning a huge increase in the number of total vegetables running loose in cars.

no idea, i wasn't there. from one of the posted comments earlier in the thread, this must be his footage. as its what he describes happening. id imagine at the time he has no idea its a road car and not one of the course cars.

The thing that stands out for me is that the driver is of the opinion that as there's nothing to stop him doing it then it's therefore someone else's fault that he could achieve what he intended.

Well if he's reading this then I'd like to suggest you make your way to the underground with a friend and film yourself having a quick lick of the rails.

There's no way this is VW viral marketing. Why would VW want to associate themselves with this behaviour, or the people in the video? Do people seriously imagine that in this day and age a company the size of VW would sabotage a race giving none of the competitors any forewarning for the sake of advertising?

It's real, there are eyewitnesses and racers on PH alone who've confirmed it.

There's no way VW would have sanctioned a daft viral marketing stunt without informing every race participant, let alone having the driver come across as a moronic chav.

Sadly it is just another idiotic mouthbreather who thinks it's funny to ruin people's hobby. The depressing thing is it will probably get him kudos from his oxygen-stealing gurntastic friends.

I think this is a huge problem and is a result of a society which is far too nannying in its approach. You're right to say there is 'nothing stopping you jumping under a train' or off a bridge or indeed going the wrong way at a junction and driving into incoming traffic on a motorway.

Just because there isn't a physical barrier doesn't mean that there was nothing stopping you. He knew he was in the wrong there would be plenty of restricts access signs etc but just no physical gate. Same concept for the wrong way motorway. People (including one or two posters on here) need to accept that people need to take responsibility for their action. They are to blame, not the others for not making something physically impossible.
