AMG Hammer

A neighbour sadly passed away 6 months ago and his wife wants to sell his AMG Hammer. I didn't even know he had it till yesterday, it's been sat in his garage for 12ish years, it hasn't moved!

She's told me to make her an offer on it so I'm trying to work out what it's worth and whether I can afford it, not sure I can unless it's a daily driver.

What can you tell me about them? I believe they are only 4 speed autos, is it a good box for a performance car? Wikipedia lists them as 5 and 6l v8's, which is it?

I know very little about them other than it looks amazing.

I would suggest it is an appreciating classic and worth purchasing if you can make the numbers work

She knows it's something but think it's worth less than normal because it's tatty and lhd.

Looking round the webs it looks like it's going to be way out of my budget we were talking, £10-12k I'm going to have to report back it's worth a lot more.

I'd agree with that, swindling her as she trusts you (your a neighbour) after she lost her husband wouldn't sit well with me.

Who decides what it is worth?

it hasn't moved for 12 years could need 10'ks spent on it or maybe nothing.

Who pays for inspection, etc.?

i would offer 10k and take it as it is anything else would need a third party involvement.

They have a later Merc coupe on the drive too, looks early 90's AMG style wheels, will take pictures of both tomorrow.

Looks like this car is outta my budget but will post pictures still.

My guess based on nothing really is that it'll be an absolute dog of a car that would take more to put right than it'll ever be worth and will sell for at most £2000.

I'm fairly sure Hammer's were all black?

It's a CE with an AMG kit.
