I'm sure it's very clever and all, but the looks are absolutely awful to my eyes. Give me a Twingo instead! biggrin

The 4 door makes the Mini Countryman look attractive.
Isn't that a bit harsh?

I don't see that as an improvement, the first smart is still the best, a classic, much mimicked.

Also not sure why they bothered making a manual, they'll sell none of those.

Why the fk an awful piece of st like this on PH. Looks so camp. This should be a -10 out of 10. I gave it a straight zero. Friggin ugly as hell.

The front end of both cars look like a Mini Countryman thats been sandwiched between 2 lorries! I was never a fan of the old Smart but it was better looking than this! (Remember the Suzuki Supercarry van when they grafted a bonnet on it?)

As many say, looks rubbish. Wonder if the proper gearbox would fit in the older varients?

Prefer the older versions of both cars (I may be biased, mind). Front end is especially ugly.
I agree. Been tempted by a Forfour for ages-plastic, nippy, etc..
And I like the looks; two tone + all!.
But not this, on first look.

Still, maybe I'll find a nice 1.5 one now (the Brabus is too hard riding.)

Now, compare the swage line and the DLP of the above with this:

They're *exactly* the same - from the junction of the wing with the headlamp all the way back to the leading edge of the c-pillar. It looks to my like the only external differences are a fake tridon (or whatever it's called) shell stuck over the c-pillar and extending it back and some different door skins!!

When you turn to the interior, it's even more obvious - everything above the a-pillar base is the same and only the dash shell is changed: all the ergonomics are the same:

vs.

I wonder what the price difference will be...

well it you need a little city car that or the twingo look pretty promising, uglyish but light and rwd which has to be a step forward, heres hoping for a little renaultsport banger in the future. surely better than an abarth 500?

I like them, though some of the details are a little overdone on the smart and I prefer the Renault.

I've driven the first generation smart a lot, and I actually thought it was fun.

It is here because there are many different things folks want from a car. 'Camp'? that is not necessarily a negative thing is it.

I might be wrong but I think they've stated the engine bay is too small to get anything worthy of a RS badge in there
There's talk of a 110bhp version of the Renault 900cc turbo engine for the Brabus/RenaultSport versions.
That'd be nice! Sometimes, the most fun you can have is in a small car with a willing engine...hopefully it'll be nice and revvy. cool

That Renault wins hands down in appearance, the Smart looks pretty ghastly to my eye.

A Renault better than a Mercedes, who'd have thought that would ever happen....

One thing I haven't seen mentioned for these or the twingo is weight.

Came across a crash test of the new for2 and an S class, so what do you think it weighed?

1124kg! Previous one appears to be about 800kg...
