I loved my Supra, manual TT and probably still my favourite car i've owned. Mine was pretty standard looking, but that's the way i like them.

Having owned all of these models it's a tough call comes down to what you really want. I've gone from tuned JaP turbos to 335i's (must be getting old!).

Liked my Supra TT and always fancied trying a manual version, the prices for good ones have really gone up that would put me off (plus the light feel-less steering and old fashioned inside).

The evo 8 MR300 requires some simple tuning to make it come alive (380 bhp is easy to get).

If you have upto £10k for an Impreza find a Spec C ltd or an S202 (or an early Lichfield type 25) they drive completely different from any Sti.

If you buy a Supra you can always sell it again for the same or more and having got it out your system by a Spec C.

Save the 335i till you get bored of tearing around in cars that look fast even when they are going slow (and don't worry about the running costs I've had a couple of high mileage 335i with no dramas).

Thanks for the advice all. Need to try both the manual and auto since ive heard the auto is a great.

I know mpg is going to the awful but are they like average? My ST i get about 22 on vpower.

Also whats the difference between the VVTi and the older engine?

A 380 brake Evo is magic on the road, and they're extraordinarily reliable if maintained correctly, even when modified. Petrol's the big hit with them as a daily driver. A decent Indy specialist will maintain it and know way more about it than a dealer, while charging you much more sensible prices. We've had a lot of nice stuff in the time I've owned an Evo, they've all come and gone in that time, I still have the Evo 11 years on.

They're almost irreplaceable after you own one for a decent time, and get to know how to exploit them.

However, I Have driven an FQ300 Evo 8. It was pretty boring mate. test drive one before you buy, but for me, it was a case of never met your heroes. Felt slow, and unexciting. It went round corners like nothing else, but if anything, it seemed too competent.
I'd never call one boring but I can understand it being too competent. Simple mods see 380hp which is where the car comes alive. The smooth power delivery turns very aggressive and it finally has power to overcome the traction, which explains why almost all Evo's are modified.

You are going from a modern 2wd car, with a lot of electronic and modern technology, that you wont get on those choices.

If you look at Supra's for gods sake get a manual one and uprate the standard JDM brakes as part of your budget.
Trying to stop an auto with worn (these cars are 20year old now) brakes and no ability to manually use engine braking can be a bit scary in the wet.

Supra's are also brutal with traction if tuned and you will need an aftermarket traction control system if that is where your longer term plans are headed.

The GSR Evo has the best electronic package/driver aid as standard out of the three - as the rear diff is ECU controlled and helps keep the back end planted at all times.
