Looking at modified single turbo Mk4 Supras after having just sold my S1 Elise.

Anyone driven both that can offer a comparison? Is the step down in steering feel good enough for the track?

Cheers!

I've driven a non-turbo Supra and own an S2 Elise.

The Supra is really more of a GT than a sports car - it feels quite heavy and not particularly agile even compared to other similar sized cars let alone an Elise. I don't remember much about the steering feel one way or the other so it's probably nothing particularly special. I'm sure the turbo is blisteringly fast in a straight line but I doubt it's going to be much of a track car. The RX7 might be a better bet if you can live with the economy and potential engine issues?

Yeah fully expecting it to be a barge in comparison. Interested in the chassis balance/feel for playing with it on the limit rather than out and out lap times.

Can anyone comment from a modified/track setup point of view?

Could there be two more different cars?

You seem to go from one extreme to another, like me. I must have had every type of car out there, from barge, hatch, rally rep, elise etc. I have recently had a play with some V8 waftiness. But I have to say I really miss lovely steering feel and the handling a true lightweight offers. I am thinking about a mk1 Elise next. I probably need a six car garage to be fair!

Isn't a big single turbo a bad idea for something that you want to play around the limits with? I would have thought you want to stick with twin turbos, whether that be in a Supra, RX7 or R32 Skyline.

You'll tire of the consumables costs pretty quickly too, I would think.

A change is always good. The S1 was great but it is time for something ocean-esque!

Few Hot Version videos show they can be fun especially in the wet. Steering feel is another matter. Heard de-powering the rack improves that so may be an option.

They have no steering feel( my supra TT had as much steering feel as a datsun sunny) but you soon get used to it and if you buy one that's tuned you will be steering it on the throttle when you unleash all that boost through the rear wheels.

Search YouTube for "bignum supra" they aren't dainty or nimble but they do handle and hang on with no bad, on the limit behaviour

Small single turbo will be better than stock twins. 'BPU' on stock twins is not a very nice drive IMHO. Owned one for a couple of years. There was something special feeling about it though and I do miss it.

Oh, and please don't put a nasty body kit on it if you do get one!
