£199 78 to insure an Aston DB7 Anniversary Edition, (No23) V12 vantage, 2004. Hope they pay out ok if I claim, but that price is very low though I'm limited to 5000 miles per year, I pay more for my Skoda Fabia! I've saved about £800.00 on my former company and I don't use the car a lot anyway so the chance of a claim is reasonably low hopefully. I'll use their multi car discount next year so the Aston might come even lower..

I've had a claim with them. They were pretty good actually. Paid well over the odds and what I was expecting with their first offer and settled fast. Never did work out why but it was nice to not get dicked around.

They are are always the cheapest for me along with their sister companies, Churchill and Privelege.

Prior to.using Direct Line, someone insured by them rear ended me and dealing with them was no hassle at all.

However, they do take the piss when the renewal comes through so you need to call them up and get them to match their sister companies or new customer quote, which in my experience they always do.

Used then for a decade and intend to stay so long as premiums are not silly.

That is a very cheap premium though! I'd check the small print very carefully indeed.

I use them on mine and my wifes car both about the same premium except hers is a Pug 107 and mine a Merc SL.

Just checked and privilege and churchill are slightly cheaper but not enough for me to swap.

I've been insured with DL for a while now and honestly never knew that they were connected to them. Well well.

Used DL a few times including currently for one of my current cars and landlord cover. Some great prices but it does annoy me that every renewal they put up the price a whack until you call them saying you have found it cheaper. This year I couldn't even bothered to find the cheaper price and just called up and politely pointed out that I was tired of this game and what was the best price they would actually do. Sure enough the helpful woman dropped the premium by about 25%. I got the feeling she had heard this complaint before.

They also have U.K. based call centres which is appreciated if something does go wrong.
Just my experience with a few different insurance companies

Churchill et al are not sister companies, just different brands that they have.
Its so they can claim that one of the brands is not on comparison sites.

well for the sake of balance heres my experience:

I was a longstanding customer with policy on auto renewal for absolutely aeons

I call them a couple of days before the next renewal to discuss a green card and ask them to put the transaction through whilst on the phone

For whatever reason, I not actually sure, despite me saying I wished to renew and telling the guy to process it there was some kind of error and they didnt take the money from my card*

Direct Line then assumed I didnt want the policy and so didnt renew - even though I had spoken to them on the phone!!

They say they sent a letter confirming this which I didnt receive
They didnt phone, text, email or try my mobile

Predictably I got ANPR'd shortly afterwards

Cheers smile
