Always been a fan of the FF. I thought that Harry Metcalf's video in which he takes it for a spin on a field and away for a weekend skiing demonstrates its capability as a daily driver.

You're not part of the official Ferrari club until you have the hat.

Love it!

I liked this photo. I am not sure it's because it shows the car being used, or the perspective makes it seem that it has loads of rear room to loll about it in. The FF reminds me of the beautiful Beta HPE.

I am not sure about the embossed headrests but the stitching is lovely. Not as bad as the shields though. For me it's about the car and what it does, not the 'brand' and the heritage such as the end of the 2002 Austrian GP.

I presumed that because Chris mentioned 'residual' in the article that it was on a PCP or similar scheme. I wonder how much deposit for that monthly rental...
Enough to buy a Cayman according to the first feature of it

Now the real question is how how much did it cost to own as well as the £ 1500 per month - depreciation plus dealer spread ?
There's more on top?

I'd have thought £9000 for 6 months and 11,000 miles was quite steep enough.

Is it just me or does overreaching so drastically for a car seem rather pointless? Yes, yes I'm aware this is Pistonheads and not Mumsnet, but the amount of special cars you can buy for half the price of this is immense. For me the idea of spending £100k on a car is beyond comprehension... I shuddered at the price listed for the F type S coupe (£80,000 base price, if you're interested... but that is brand new!) and even spending £30k seems like a remote dream that I'll never achieve.

I don't even think it's all that. It's not especially good looking to my eyes, and the aforementioned Jaguar is in many ways better looking, and in terms of how special it is per pound you spend, I'd say it's probably better value too.

So what do we reckon the depreciation is on a used Jag F type?
Where were you looking? Base F-Type S coupe is from £60k. Coupe R from £85k

Unless you get in a FF and drive it around the block you won't understand why it costs the amount it does in comparison to other cars and more importantly why you would mortgage an organ to get one. In terms of being able to afford a new one, it's aimed at the top <0.25% of the population so for the vast majority of people this car is just a pipe dream to own from new so in that sense you have company. the FF ticks almost all the boxes, it's too big for the uk but I can see the appeal, especially for a used one over a 991 turbo s.

Question sort of answered http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

So with the extra miles its on for the about the same as six/nine months ago - I reckon that equates to a total cost of 25-50 % more than the 599 over the same period

It's funny, I've never been able to see the attractive side of the FF's posterior, but it must be the best sounding V12 Ferrari for a long while. The F12 sounds a bit muted in comparison.

I liked this write up a lot, its great to see it being well used. Thats the problem I have at the moment, owning multiple cars seems to spread the mileage too thinly.

I'll do some maths later. Thinking around £10k depreciation, plus rental costs, plus £800 insurance.

Not cheap. Don't regret it for a minute. Even better in reality than it was when I was dreaming of owning it.

The floor is now open to those who would like to discuss how an E46 M3 would do it all in much the same manner, but for less cash.

I'll be off doing something else!

How can it be too big for the UK when our roads are crammed full of Range Rovers?

Admittedly it's a bit wide to throw down a Welsh B road but that's not what it was designed for.

That's excellent value for the mileage you put on it taking into account what it is. It could cost you 2-3 grand just to rent something less exotic from a supercar rental company for a week. An M3 or an RS4 from new will cost you an easy £1-2 per mile or more, depending on finance.

They're a weird phenomena, the four seater Ferrari

I believe they're generally bought new by the seasoned Ferrari buyer, they cost more than all the other regular products and at 10 years old they're worth the least. At 20 years old they're getting be worth so much more in parts that numbers start thinning out before coming back a little as a slightly lesser classic.

They also have a habit of being ordered in any colour other than bright red.

Personally, I love this stuff and it's great that a writer here has the minerals to get into one.

For the slightly lighter of wallet, the 612 Scagger is down to well spec'd 3 series money now
