I'll do some maths later. Thinking around £10k depreciation, plus rental costs, plus £800 insurance.

Not cheap. Don't regret it for a minute. Even better in reality than it was when I was dreaming of owning it.

The floor is now open to those who would like to discuss how an E46 M3 would do it all in much the same manner, but for less cash.

I'll be off doing something else!
Just over three bags a month then. If only I didnt have a family!

Is not being a motoring journalist all about buying cars you shouldn't?

More of the same Mr Harris?

What car is up next?

(Won't the finance and other expenses be tax deductable?)

Chris, if you find one for the 'right' price (I'm sure Porsche GB will point you in the right direction!) one of these would be a giggle and arguably a good purchase.

So the same as any Ferrari then? It may be the best car in the world ever ever ever, but you'll never know for sure because using it for any length of time means it'll be worth about twenty five pence when the time comes to sell. No wonder they manage to flog so many fleece lined car covers.
A photograph may have been a more prudent investment.

So if I got this right assuming 6 months of ownership and rental costs of £1500, that’s around £24000 for 6 months. £4000 per month.
I expected the depreciation to be much, much higher than that.

It's been a very enjoyable read discovering just how good the FF is and how useable it can be.

Ferrari has come so, so far from the days of Enzo.

Who's talking about investments? I think Harris is more interested in experiences than investments. I'm not sure how the experience offered by a photograph stacks up to the experience offered by the car.

Still sold it after a few months before its value dropped (even further) through the floor.

Indeed, to realise an acceptable level of loss or total cost of ownership. It's hardly an investment vehicle.

Great article Monkey, shame it has to go, but move on to the next and write loads about it please.

PS - what ever happened to your DRIVE videos, not seen anything from you in weeks/months? I've had to spend that time on a Wednesday evening cleaning the dishes!

How can it be too big for the UK when our roads are crammed full of Range Rovers?

Admittedly it's a bit wide to throw down a Welsh B road but that's not what it was designed for.
Both are roughly 2 metres wide and yeah, too big for blighty, cruiser or shopping cart. My turbo is 1850mm wide and that is right on the limit for me and sometimes a bit over.

I can sympathise with Mr H's dilemma. I bought my FF in April thinking I'd put around 3-4k a year on it, and I've done around 1000 a month so far, which when you consider it only does weekend duty and is far from my everyday car just demonstrates how usable and fun it is to use all the time.

Anyway glad Chris got rid of his, they were getting too much press. I want to keep them a nice little secret so they don't go and get common. I like the exclusivity....

"And I'm not convinced they'd (the Germans)be any cheaper to run either."

bks! By your own admission, it's let you down twice in 10K.
"the Germans" will break less often, cost less to repair(I am quite familiar with the price of F-parts), and depreciate 1/2 as much.
Exactly what running costs are you speaking of? Psychiatry?
Tell me I'm wrong...
