Who can/should I buy a windscreen from
Discussion
I'm currently running a Saab 9000 Aero shed. Unfortunately last week it's acquired a 4 inch crack in the windscreen and it's MOT is due at the end of the month. I therefore need a new windscreen. It's on the cheapest possible classic insurance so glass isn't covered. It seems extraordinarily difficult to actually get a quote for how much one will be, paid for out of my own pocket. Massive spiels about how it'll be 'free' and they'll sort out the paperwork on the other hand... One big national chain has quoted me circa 800 quid, which I'm taking as code for 'bugger off elsewhere'.
So, any recommendations? Being a shed I'm obviously very cost sensitive, the cars worth well under a grand. I'm near Derby, work in Birmingham if it's local recommendations that are best.

Rolleston, near Burton on Trent/Derby. It's in Birmingham most days though.
Give Craig a shouthttp://www.clearviewwindscreens.org/contact.html
You could also try Phil - 530dTPhil. He's one of the top men at http://www.nationalmobilewindscreens.co.uk/ and I've used him before. Highly recommended.

Some big numbers being talked about in this thread. I got a replacement sceen fitted to my Clio for 160 quid in 2008, and a few months ago I was quoted 140 for a new screen for my 5-series. Both by small independent companies specialising in windscreens.
That's the kind of price I paid for a screen for a c900 a few years back from a small local. Think old-school, and get ringing around the Yellow Pages.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
