Everyone forgets the MR2 turbo from this list, which really would keep up with just about all of them. (not that I'm biased)

I'm a massive fan of Japanese cars. They really get under your skin.

Strange, plenty of great examples of them on this thread, including mine.

I read the article, not the thread. Don't take it to heart.

I've had my CRX for over 12 years; here she is on an Alpine pass earlier this year, bless her little cotton socks!

Are NSX's overpriced, do we think?

Also grow up with grand turismo games and therefore like most 90s jap sports cars, have already owned mk2 mr2 na, mk2 mr2 rev3 turbo, mk4 supra, s2000, rx8, mk1 mx5 (3 of them) celica gt4 st205. I would still like to own a r34 skyline gtr and a rx7 (feel I have missed the boat on that) and maybe a 350z at some point.

I too love mostly all the 90's Japanese cars. The main players were the Skyline, the NSX and the Supra. They still command a lot of money today even for the standard ones without big tunes. So for me, the dark horse is the MK2 MR2. I never owned a Turbo, but drove several and indeed one super fast one. For what you pay now, they are so much power for the money. The notion of being hard to tame on the limit was due to inexperienced drivers who could afford them. Where else can you get a mid engined 2 seater purpose built sports car with so much practicality for so little money? Learn do drive it properly and it was superb!!
It's been the only true motoring love of my life, and I will get another some time soon.

The NSX is my all time favorite car! With the Zonda on a close 2nd... If I am fortunate enough one day I will have the NSX as a daily, there's nothing I would want more than to drive that car every single day.

I'm going to bump this thread because I enjoyed it and because I want to talk about Jap cars, and going from RWD to FWD, without starting a new thread and massive debate.

I'm sadly looking at moving on my MR2 Turbo for something with extra seats. A friend has offered me his highly modified Levin AE101 as a straight swap. I went for a test drive in it and actually it was brilliant. Obviously not as potent as my car, but it clearly handled like a go kart and had a superb noise. How this car is not more recognised as an Integra competitor is beyond me, probably only because very few were imported.

So it would be great to hear some thoughts on the AE101 and more general thoughts on going from a MR drive to a FWD. Bear in mind i don't commute in my car, it's used for pleasure only but I want to do some longer trips with friends this year. The AE101 is better than half the price of an Integra DC2!!!! Which seems ludicrous.

Of course there are RWD options i'm considering, as I do think i'd miss the tail out fun, but these would require a bit of saving. Namely either a S14 200sx or R33 GTST.

I'm basically stuck in this place where i'm not sure if I want to go FWD or wait and get a conventional turbo powered RWD. I realise AE101 owners are few and far between so even general comments on drivetrains are appreciated.

Appreciate any thoughts rotate

Doesn't seem a lot of love for the big Nissan 300ZX.
I loved mine and they still look pretty good when you see a well looked after one now.

That is gorgeous. If I had that budget it would be my choice.
