The Carrera GT was a brilliant car, the 928 was almost a brilliant car yet Porsche, other than reconfigured Audi's, have a fanatical tunnel vision with the oh so dull 911. Even the Boxter and Cayman now just look like mini 911's, yet well over 50% of their sales now come from reconfigured Audi's.
They are reconfigured because the single biggest cost and defining component of a modern car is the floorpan. the Q5 & Macca will share engines, do share electrics, sub assemblies, floorpan, sub systems etc.

Not that you'll take any notice, but the Boxster (and 996) were what saved Porsche and it would still be a successful company had it not gone into SUVs. As it happens, the SUVs have just made the company even more (that is say, extremely!) successful. I hate SUVs personally but hey, it's what car markets want.
That is also why Porsche has never killed off the 911 and why the Boxster has been so successful - they are products that the market wants.

It was black, had the same nose and rear wing, private plate, RHD but i think it had 4 tailpipes. Was being filled up with petrol by a guy in a forces uniform. Sounded like the devil when it pulled off and also sounded like a manual.
No idea what it was exactly but it looked ace!
