I've always thought it was more amusing when you buy new discs and they're covered in packaging grease. Paint's probably safer tbh.
I once fitted new front discs to an e39 and forgot to remove the packing oil film with brake cleaner. They were feckin deadly and it took quite a few hard stops to burn it off.

Yes, the bigger crime there is the cheapo tyres and axle stands on the sills! Noooo!
New discs from vauxhall sometimes have the hub and edges painted, with overspray on the braking area.
On an e39 there are 4 alloy jacking pads under the sills, plus another on the front subframe, you're specifically not meant to jack them or put stands anywhere else.

Alright guys, I'm sorry I jumped on it like I did. I didn't want to be bhy, I'd just never heard of doing this before and it didn't seem like a good idea to me, so wondered what you thought. Although my opening post wasn't particularly well worded. At all.

So please accept my apologies, and to the guy on BMW5 if he is reading.
