The C63 went to a new owner today, and a much quicker sale than i'd anticipated. What do i buy next?
Last 3 car ive had: 2003 Audi RS6 Avant. 2007 BMW E61 M5 Touring. 2010 C63 AMG PPP Saloon.
Things i liked about the above:
The Audi leather. Mine had natural leather inside and it was fantastic.
The BMW interior design. Really nice place to be.
The SMGIII gearbox. I loved the box that everybody else hated.
C63 Engine. Mine was pushing 530bhp, had a Quaife diff fitted and the noise was phenomenal.
C63 hooligan abilities.
So, what i want is a car with Audi quality leather but BMW //M interior design, C63 engine but the M5 flappy paddle box. And it's got to be as bonkers to drive as the AMG too. And i dont want a car that's over 5 years old max. Preferably less than 3 years old if possible.
Money wise, i dont want to spend more than £40k in a lump but am happy to buy a £90k car if there are new-car lease deals going that make more sense than buying outright.
Cars i don't want: M3's. Subarus, Jap etc. Pork,
Cars i'd love but are not practical for me (no garage yet): Atoms, Massers, most Italian stuff really.
Help me out here!

Its a stretch on the budget but what about an early Gallardo or if you buy a big miles and stretch budget a Murcialego.... Certainly the wow factor and hooligan fast + noise all ticked off.

Now that looks the tits and I love the colour; the wheels are particularly rancid though and look as though a spotty 17 year old Halfords employye designed them. Lovely car though and I am very envious (apart from the wheels :-))Good leather - check

They're starting to grow on me. They're waging a "hearts and minds" campaign against me every time I clean the car. I have to admit that they are the easiest wheels to clean properly that I've ever had!
Early R8 but not as practical as the cars you're used to and only the V8 at the budget
No hope to get a AM Vantage v12 but you could get an early db9 or v8 vantage.
On the jag front, an xk or better an xkr
Saloon wise, monaro will give the power but doubt the interior will be up to the std you want.

I'm bias, but yes.
It's the ZF 8 speed torque converter auto, but the XFRS is a mishmash of bits nicked from other cars. The front suspension uprights and hubs are from the XKRS which had been redesigned for improved stiffness in camber and castor over the standard items. The steering rack and gearbox are F-Type flavoured (Jag call the F-Type version the "Quickshift" version) as is the active diff.
The gearbox makes the car great and very smooth/civilised etc when pootling around. Sport auto mode is aggressive. The flappy paddles can be used at any time. When used in normal D mode you get full control other than it changing down if you'll stall the engine. If you don't use the paddles for a (fairly long) while it'll revert to full auto. If you use the paddles in Sport mode it'll stay in full manual mode. The shifts are quite soft in auto-D and quite aggressive in Sport or manual. It can block shift up to 3 gears at a time. It wont downchange to the gear you asked for if that gear would exceed the redline and you can come to halt and pull away in 3rd gear I think. I've come to a halt from 8th and it's changed down to 3rd as I stopped but it's never gone below that.
I think it's great as a saloon car that has to behave like a saloon car. The chassis is great. It's got a lot of grip but it moves around a lot more than one might expect. Squirmy is the wrong word but the car will yaw and move a lot when cornering quick and playing with throttle. It's a very easy car to throw around and rewards / makes you feel like a driving god without necessarily getting too stupid.
Most of the "R Performance Centre" dealers have one as a demonstrator - go drive one and see what you think. Sensible colours and non-bookshelf spoiler available
