Probably been done before , but a list of non dpf diesel focus sized cars would be useful

Or as an alternative a list of focus sized cars that are 30 quid to tax and petrol

All of the new ones have a DPF

For £30 tax and no DPF you'd be best of looking at the small capacity charged petrols, like a Focus Ecoboost. Alternatively a few older diesels would fit that criteria like an A2 1.4 TDI or Polo 1.4 TDI from the early 2000s.

Do some googling, or at the very least have a mooch about on the many forums on here.

Also MOT changes are afoot, god knows what mayhem ensues.

I have a petrol car thankfully.

Mk1 Leon diesels don't have DPFs

AFAIK the 1.4 tdi in the Polo and Ibiza in the 2002-2008 age range have dpfs. The 1.9 tdi engined models don't though smile

Not a very ph type car but we have a 2009 C3 Picasso 1.6hdi and that doesn't have a dpf. Also the 2008 focus 1.8 diesel I had didn't have one either.

Edit to add the Citroen is only £30 to tax but the focus wasn't

Only the Bluemotion and Ecomotive models which didn't come out until 2007. The older cars don't have them and can fall under the 120g/ km Co2 bracket. Hold their value well used though so not necessarily a great value for money choice.

Maybe be bigger than you need but all diesel Vectra hatchs are non-DPF.

Signums and estates have them.

Don't get hung up on tax. A hundred quid a year difference on the tax disc is buttons compared to depreciation, finance, fuel, maintenance, insurance...

Im on third vehicle with dpf and neither have caused any real issues

First was an Octavia vRS. Drove from Scotland to Canary Wharf - No issues till I was pulling into the car park, dpf light came on. When I left traffic was lighter and found a road with a 50mph limit, used that for a few minutes, dpf light cleared.

Second a Citreon.. DPF light never came on, just had to pay £300 to change the gunk that gets injected into the system that apparently lowers the temp at which the dpf contents are regenerated. Used to leave engine idling quite a lot too.

Third a Fiat Van. Done 52000 miles, leave the engine idling a lot, never had an issue.

I'm pretty sure the vag group 1.9pd tdi's don't have them smile so that's anything from the hateful 67hp version to the not hateful at all 160hp version

Maybe a bit more info?

My ML doesn't have a DPF.
My Brabus tuned E320cdi didn't have one either.

But if you're buying diesel and worried about the difference between £30 and £100 a year in tax it makes me think that 25-30mpg might not be enough?

Do you want new?

Go and hire a new 1.4tfsi A3 for £50 a week. No DPF, cheap tax and the same mpg as the 2.0tdi, in every day driving some are beating what they got on the 2.0tdi.

You doing loads of miles?
Budget?

You do realise that there is maybe £5 week difference in fuel between a diesel and petrol for someone doing 12k miles a year.

They did, had a Mk5 1.9tdi Bluemotion as a demo, and the warning light was always coming on (normally after our old duffer drivers had been driving it) but this was in a fairly rural part of the world, not even a busy town centre.

As above, how many people buy a new or near new diesel because the road tax is cheap and it does 60mpg without thinking of the maintenance costs.

Hundreds!!

Mate works at Audi and he was saying that someone was swapping his 2 year old A3 for a brand new one as the new one is only £30 a year in tax.
He explained that it would cost him around £9,000 to save that £50 a year in tax.
The guy didn't get what he was saying.

Sign just on the that dotted line then Sir.......
