Following on from this thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I've had a fantastic time with my E46 M3 for the last 8 months. Been a superb car for days out and finding new roads. Took us and camping gear down to Le Mans. Performed round Croft, did everything I needed it to do.

Have agreed a sale and it should be going Saturday. I was actually quite hesitant to sell as it's been such a great car. Still, lots more out there to try and hopefully you can give me some guidance.

In addition to the original list, (Elise S2, 996, XKR, TVR Tuscan) I've also considered a few others recently. Porsche Cayman - To many stories of bore scoring and IMS issues for my liking. I couldn't afford that kind of repair. Alpina Roadster - 2 currently available. 1 tatty, the other (Paul Noon's) is a tidy example but not as exciting a car as I'd hoped.

I suppose that I should consider a Z4M. I'm also still keen on the idea of a Elise. Something small and sporty would be a change from the large size of the M3.

My priorities are minimal depreciation and maximum reliability. The M3 cost me about £900 in the 8 months I had it. £600 of that was essentials (brakes and a rear spring). I'm happy with that sort of running cost.

Cheers

If I was in your boat I'd be going for a Porsche 968 ClubSport.

If anything they'll rise in value. They are bullet proof so if you find a good one it shouldn't cost you too much.

I'll have a look, thank you. I'm only familiar with the newer models, can't really work out how the model number system works though I'm sure there must be some logic to it!
