I've already said I understand the distinction. What I don't get is why you'd want all 3.

It's more that I can't see what distinct purposes the S6, CSL and 335 serve - I get that when compared to one another they're all a different proposition but there's also overlap between all 3 and if you owned them all I just don't see what you'd use each of them for.
I would see more of an overlap with a 335 and a 996 Turbo myself. I'd consider another 335 as a daily runner, but keep the CSL for the Saturday morning car

I know it's the "dull" way to do it (though not as dull as this list! biggrin), but surely in the real world the majority of people's imaginary 100K would be spent on fewer but newer/"nicer" cars? I know "nicer" is subjective of course, but as an example:

This for the weekend: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

And this for the daily grind: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Replace choices with Exige, V8 Vantage, C63 etc as you see fit.

Had a 928GTS for 6 years in Germany from 2000-06, daily driver until arrival of 2nd child. A better Grand Tourer does not exist.
Since moved back to NZ & recently bought a 993 c2

My opinion; dull.

Fair play for something a bit different in the 928.
M3 CSL, hmmm, okay but not my personal choice.
Corrado for 7.5k! That's just madness!
S6 again, too dull for this game.
335d, yes in the real world great, but too much blandness overall.

I second the Italian theme!

oh it could. really it could.

i'm on board with the 928 though.
I'm never bored driving my 335i Touring.... I'm too busy trying to keep it in a straight line as it tramlines from one side of the road to the other with its god awful runflat tyres

Top marks for picking the 928. I ran an S4 as my daily for almost 9 years and still regret selling it.

Yes, good ones are now £25K plus, because a bad one will suck your bank account to zero before you get it back into A1 condition.
My old man gave me his battered GTS when he was finished with it 5 or 6 years ago and I've been trying to get into good condition...

Buying one that was already in good condition at the time would have been cheaper.

Absolutely love the thing unfortunately!

Loving the Corrado and the 928 but the rest is a bit well samey really. Still each to their own and I do love the 928. I think you could get a very good 928 for £10k less than that one mind (and in a nicer colour too) though to be honest I haven't looked in a while! Perhaps the well overdue renaissance of the 928 is upon us?

The 'majority of people' would spend their money on a diesel mondeo - or possibly a diesel BMW, 'cos it's better, innit'. Thankfully, many people don't think along those lines and prefer something with both style and class rather than a modern car with bloated handling, weight and price tag.

A comment like yours completely misses the point of this thread.

"bloated handling" since when did that apply to diesel mondeo - a diesel BMW ?
Weight is just natural evolution of all the tech expected on a modern car and price tag wise cars were far more expensive in the 90s.

Great choice - Yes would replace the RS4 with the C63 for the auto box to ease the commute.

How many cars age so gracefully, and with such enduring appeal, as the 928? Big price on this one, mind.
Too right. I couldn't resist it... So I did some man maths and bought it... Can't wait to pick it up!

Is this the hundred thousand mile garage?
Leggy German motors yuck
M3 CSL despite the gear box would be my only interest.

Bravo sir! Make sure you start a thread about it when you have it in the garage.
