You're well within your rights to reject the car.

I wonder what the front one looks like?
I'm no expert, but I'm guessing it'll be "CK12 XYR", but on a white background instead of yellow...

My defender has the original plate on the back

its 16 years old

Its not faded

I've never seen a faded plate in the UK

Unless the dealer has sourced his plate from completely different place to 99.9% of the dealers in the UK then he is bullstting

Its the protective film still on the plates
The plates on my Saab are fading badly too (they were supplied by Newreg). They're about 6 years old.

It could be the protective film - alternatively it could be the plate delaminating on the back

I think modern plates are far more prone to bleaching/fading since they started "printing" the letters and numbers onto the reflective background rather than the traditional "individual" letters method

I look at a lot of lease cars in the car park at work and some of them despite being just a couple of years old are really faded/washed out

I only have one set of plates made by the new method and they are already fading.

Good charity - but I think that might fall shy of complying with PH terms and conditions wink
