Recommended products for rust treatment?
Discussion
Evening,
I will shortly be tackling the rusty arches on my Mazda6. I'm happy with the process involved and don't mind DIYing as it's only worth 2k on a good day. I have already DIY resprayed the alloys and used acid etch as a primer.
However, are there other/better products I should consider to treat the bare metal on the arches before respraying to keep the rust at bay?
Cheers,
N

First thing to check is where the rust is coming from - is it coming from the back of the panel, either where water from the road has worked its way past the underbody sealant, or is it condensation between the quarter panel/wing and the inner arch, or is it actually rusting from the outside via stonechips and so on?
Lots of wheelarch problems are from the back of the panel through, making it quite hard to repair them effectively as by the time the rust shows on the front, it's already eaten through the panel. Not all of them, of course - if it's just from stonechips on the outwise of the panel you might get away with it.
