Anyone know what the deal is with the clocks? I know I have to pay the hideous VRT then NCT test and tax it but cant find an answer to, do I have to change the dash to KPH or can it stay MPH?

It can stay in MPH.. Up until about 2004 every new car sold in Ireland was in MPH in the main and only KPH in the small font. Around this time the speed limits changed to metric also

Are you moving from the UK to Ireland? If so, you can register your car without paying VRT.

No ,clocks stay the same.If your moving to Ireland ,vrt is free under the transfer of residency .But that was a few years ago so worth checking.

lol cheers! still cheaper and better spec than what your money gets you over there but it's a big hit the VRT, road tax is horrendous to and the roads in general are no more than farm tracks in parts out west.

What car/year is it out of interest?

I thought that the gap between UK and Irish prices for second hand cars had reduced a lot from 5 years ago..

I'm guessing diesel < 5 years old?

You're correct, A4 TDi, the prices have narrowed a bit, new is still miles apart though, specs seem to be less to and there are some heaps on the forecourts, smart repairs means the valeter and a can of halfords spray paint.
