Not an easy route, but cheap. £800 worth of LS400 and a secondhand supercharger kit. A Vortech kit went secondhand on eBay not too long ago for £650. I reckon if you were handy with the spanners, and creative with parts sourcing, you'd have it all done and ready to roll for under £2k. Would make a heck of a sleeper too.

Now this might be a typo but how about 1098bhp for £5,000 in a cool shell too?

Evan if it was true, I wouldn't be seen dead in it. I despise Morris Minors
me too.. but that would make it extra cool to be running one with 1000+ bhp.

Hi Mr Lambo.. yes thats right, i have wood on my bodywork.. please pay special attention to the wood on my back doors as that's all you'll be seeing..

Judging by its maximum speed it's geared for acceleration smile

It's not sporty and would cost a fortune to make manual. Same for Supra's, GS300's and Soarers's. Any manual big power Toyota usually has a price to match.

Winner.
Maybe not the cheapest, but certainly one of the most exciting ways.
I have no idea what half of that advert is on about!
That's an example of how an advert *should* be written, imo.

That car belongs to a mate of mine. His previous eBay advert for a total shed that he was selling was comedy gold. To say it was brutally honest was an understatement. Someone bought it though, so shows that honesty does pay.

A lot of good work has gone into that RX7 though and it's a hell of a lot of performance for the money.

450 hp seems a bit optimistic from the 300 hp TSI. It would still run out of puff on the Autobahn.

5th injector?! Surely that's a 90's ghetto technique. I've never seen a 450bhp Mazda 6, has anyone built one?

That 6k Scooby has to be the best suggestion so far.

By the time all the extras (e.g. DSG) and ~6-month upfront fee and remap have been added up, the total cost is more like 350 - 450 nuggets a month.

It gets ~360bhp and gets to 100mph in ~9secs.

Roughly 99% of all UK driving on public roads is done under 100mph.

Mkiv Supra surely?

Was a member of the owners club for years (owned a lowly 6 speed NA) and even the 450hp+ boys seemed to have very few reliability issues.

Good examples with big power for well under £10k.

Jap turbo is probably the way, although I don't think the Nissan RB engines are up there with Toyotas 2JZs in terms of reliability. Same for Imprezas and Evos, which also come with a certain 'image' in a lot of people's eyes. RX7s are stunningly beautiful and fast, but rebuilding the rotary scares me.

Old fast Audis also.

Im sure there'll be some big old Mercs that'll do the job, but there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes.

Mitsubishi 3000GT, cheap and powerful. I'd expect a ropey moded one could be picked up for less than 6k.

There's one of these kicking about that's running over 480bhp on the standard internals and has been for thousands of daily driven miles:

The car itself can be had for much less than a grand, even in decent nick.
