It gets ~360bhp and gets to 100mph in ~9secs.

Roughly 99% of all UK driving on public roads is done under 100mph.
Bloke asks for 450 horses for cheap, so you advise spending over £10k on a car 100 hp down on that. Ok... nuts

Goes faster than many / most 450bhp cars. 10k for that speed is cheap wink

Evo is probably the cheapest way to do it relatively reliably. Classic Scoobys wont take that power without engine internal work, neither will silvias or any of the other 2l jobs. Id have said supra4 but a manual tt is not a cheap car in the first place - same with skyline gtr.
A Legacy might be worth a pop - turbos and engine management will see 500+

Barges like e39 m5s etc are pointless cos youll go faster in a standard jap turbo car.

~400 squid a month.

0 to 60 in 3.8secs driving
450 hp seems a bit optimistic from the 300 hp TSI. It would still run out of puff on the Autobahn.

But the car in question needs to have OVER 450bhp and he is looking for the CHEAPEST way of obtaining it.

In a sporty manual car, no big old Jag or Merc saloons.

I've seen a fair few Mitsubishi Evo's with that sort of power advertised for about 7-8k. Same for RX7's.
Just to remind everyone OP's original specs.

He didn't ask for fast, he asked for 450hp+

Furthermore, if he was asking for a very fast car for cheap, the answer sure as hell wouldn't be a Golf R

I can't imagine that it would hang around long enough for anyone to really care.

It can't come near 450 without some serious, and very costly work.

It is the runt of the Mustang family but is kind of cool still. Not sure I'd have one over an Evo though
