No I've never thought this. If I'm not 100% sure that I can complete the overtake with no danger then I don't go, anything else is just irresponsible and stupid.

Educational in deed; however one should also question the street marking, I mean there is no intention of a continuous line anywhere even though the sight is obviously restricted.

Just wondering which part of the overtake actually "went wrong" ?
Yes it was a bit daft, but he didn't crash, and as far as I can tell, no-one else did, therefore it didn't really go wrong did it?

He caused someone else to take evasive action, so yes i'd say it was wrong.

Ive seen worse from cars and bikes. Good man for sharing though.

Ive often seen bikes overtake and thought "what if another bike was coming the other way doing exactly the same"?

The lorry oncoming is off the road (he even points it out!) and the RAV looks like it slows as well. 1 second more and its a head on! How can you not see that?!

Anyway, as said, fair play to him for posting it up. He admits he is out to get some good footage so he is in a racey mood and wants to get by. This leads him to make poor decisions, one of which could have been very serious.

We've all made mistakes, as long as we remember and learn from them its all we can do.

Bikers aren't really 'taught' anything about overtaking, other than keeping a safe distance from the car in front and maintaining a dominant road position.
That's not a dominant road position , most bikers seem to sit too near the off side of the car in front and much too close right in the car drivers blind spot

It's not exactly difficult, no godlike skills are required. All you need is a fairly basic understanding of the speed, distance and time relationship and, most importantly, to understand that it is never acceptable to risk multiple lives to shave a few seconds off your journey.

However when you're in the mood of Billy Big Balls you want to get by. That can have a profound effect on ones driving. Everyone makes mistakes, then you learn and don't do it again.

The hazard line down the centre of the road should be a reasonable indication that visibility might not be as clear as you think.

It means there is a hazard ahead and you shouldn't cross it unless you can see that the road is completely clear. In this case, visibility was restricted somewhat, but the rider didn't take the hint.

That's not to say I would have made a different decision, it's very easy to be critical in hindsight, but when you're in the seat yourself, you make split second decisions that you might do differently with the benefit of a video to watch back later.
