Looks like a much better deal that YouTube, I'll switch to Vimeo after this season.

Single video for 99 definitely works for me. Looks like a much better deal that YouTube, I'll switch to Vimeo after this season.
At first glance it looks like the Vimeo set up is better than Google.

For all our bashing of their model. I do like the idea that Chris Harris and his friends, do provide content that the majority want to see.Looks like a much better deal that YouTube, I'll switch to Vimeo after this season.
I hope this new move allows them more financial flexibility, and as such we all ultimatley benefit.
I dont expect a load of free content. But would like to think some will be uploaded just as sweetners to keep people intrested and attract the new customers that they will ultimatley need.
Ill be intresting to see if any free content is uploaded to Youtube, but giving directions to the new platform.
As it will hopefully set a precedent for others, and ultimatley make youtube change their own model to allow people to make a living out of offering content.
Other than gamers uploading themselves playing games!
So good luck
I wonder how many paying subs they have and whether they are breaking even? viewing numbers on the youtube drive+ channel videos aren't fantastic at the moment, for example the 2 week old e30 m3 vid only had 13k hits and that could well include people who had the first month for free. Would be interested to know if this is the kind of number they were expecting when they embarked on this plan.

There is a video on their YouTube channel explaining the move, although I haven't watched it yet.
I think they are keeping the short, free clips on their original channel and the paid content will be on both the YouTube Subscription channel and Vimeo.
Just watched it. Fully explains the issues they've been having in some depth - in fact, it all gets a little bit too technical for a 1 min video.I think they are keeping the short, free clips on their original channel and the paid content will be on both the YouTube Subscription channel and Vimeo.
Good idea putting the vids on another site behind a $0.99 paywall though.

Although I did recommend using a real currency rather than one of those funny third world ones.
The vimeo solution is better than nothing. I don’t plan to subscribe but may pay for the odd CH video when there’s a topic that intrigues me.
However with XCAR & others pumping out content as they are right now, I don’t miss the old /Drive as much as I thought I would. Two F40s and a period racer talking about them... for free. Yes please.

I really enjoyed that vid. First time I've heard the sound of an F40 properly captured and I bow understand what all the fuss was about.
