RE: Pay per view: PH Blog
Discussion
I've just unsubscribed. I'm all for paying for content (i'm even paying £10/month for a FLAC-streaming service with less-than-a-lot-of-content, in addition to Spotify and another streaming service). And HBO. And Netflix. And some work-related stuff.
But I won't pay for nothing. There was going to be 2-3 videos each week. There has been 2-0.
I'll let them publish their content and then resubscribe and binge it later.

If the content is drying up already, it does not look like a positive sign
Not too surprising if you read the first few pages of the thread. They confirmed the doubts when they canceled all yearly subscriptions.Today is the September 11th and I still get this message when I try to access youtube.com/driveplus:
They stated that "all eyes of the industry are on them at the moment"... well now all of those eyes are watering from laughter.
I'm all for subscription based quality content, but when you make the public pay, I feel that you then have a massive amount of pressure on you to deliver content on-time and deliver a certain quantity of content as per your original promise.
Fail with this and you'll have a mass exodus of subscribers and it'll die off.
I love drive videos, but don't make promises that you cannot deliver on.

I note a distinct lack of video content on PH now. I assume related to/a direct result of this topic.
The videos behind the paywall don't get featured on the front page - and rightly so imo. Though there has been fewer 'time for tea' videos than normal since new management rolled in.Truckosaurus said:
Also on the subject of MotorTrend/HotRod the latest Roadkill video was little more than a Subaru Legacy infomercial (a car far removed from the channel's core content), so even the 'rich' magazines have to pimp themselves out to provide 'free' content.
Yep, the last Roadkill was ste.JB! said:
That charger on gravel was quality! It was a massive ad for Subaru, but to be fair the didnt try to hide it Freiberger even said "we spent Subarus money on fixing some of our cars".
True, it looked like good fun but the older episodes were better to watch IMO even though I have zero mechanical know how.JB! said:
