What about the statement that a Camaro on summer tyres is as good a winter car as any FWD car on winter tyres, or something along those lines... rofl

No need for a witch hunt, eh?

I think the whole "wouldn't say that to my face" is a bit daft. If I was at a pub talking to a man in a stetson and he suggested getting a ZR1 for my old grandmother, the conversation wouldn't get to the length of 4 posts before SuperYank was told not to be daft. Conversations in real life aren't like forum chats - so I'm pretty confident that someone can call someone else a daft tt without causing offence.

The problem with the internets is that it's impossible to find where someone is trying to upset, and when someone is just having a laugh. I know I have run into that before, but how do you tell someone like 300 that he's a daft without accidentally having the reader concentrate on the part? After all, calling someone a daft isn't that offensive, but calling someone a is - all in the delivery.

If only PH had a "comic sans" option, there'd be no issue*

(except that we'd all leave as per the law of "comic sans!" of course)

Wasn't it 300 that said he was quicker down country lane in a Smart roadster or some such rubbish than a load of TVR's?
Don't mention that. He once got very angry with me for bringing it up.

I agree with whats been said previously he always had something interesting to say, but his posts almost always pee'd someone off for one reason or another.

What happened to Twincam 16V? was about 22, but posted like he was 84.
Vlad was great fun, only because he always took the bait so easily.

Bought a car with cash, but rents a house... Lol.
Did he ever mention what that car was...? wink
I remember telling Vlad that the reason he was getting low trade in offers on his 335d was because it was a crap spec, he went ape, it was hilarious hehe
I remember him constantly saying how good the SE model is and would never buy the M Sport. Next BMW he bought was an M Sport model smile

Exactly! You need a bit of that to keep things interesting, otherwise PH would just be a circle jerk of CTR/BMW/MX5 drivers talking about finance packages and dabs of oppo.
There's inane posting(guilty of that myself) but the passive aggressive under tone really irked me.

I can think of a couple he came up with:

1) Jeep Cherokees make an ideal drift car.
2) A Bentley Continental needn't be expensive to run, just get a full oil drum and stick it in your garden for whenever it needs changing.

Wherever he may be, know that if someone asks for suggestions on which practical family car to buy, his suggestions will involve old American muscle cars.
My favourite "seriously?" suggestion of his was a PT Cruiser convertible as a good option for someone considering a Saab 9-3, Volvo C70, BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and talking about how stylish it was and how it would be a nicer place to be. All backed up with pictures to show just how fking awful a piece of st it was. That one has really stuck with me.
Pleaaaaase! The best time was when someone with a circa £20K budget wanted a family car that was reliable, fast, economical etc and amongst the waves of Audi, BMW, Merc responses was 300bhp/ton offering links to Ferrari Mondials in the classifieds and then when everyone started to bash him he stuck by his choice saying it was the best option! hehe

I think the main reason he left is due to his profile being suspended so often in the end.
My favourite one was when someone on here was asking people whether he should buy a 911 or an E46 M3, 300bhp/ton suggestion was a pick up truck rofl

To be fair, he's probably right on that score.

You see a lot of insults being cast, and I don't for one minute believe that the same people would talk to a stranger face to face in such a way. PH, and internet forums in general, are home to a lot of "characters" who's online personality doesn't reflect much on their "real life" one.

Cockwomble7 was a perfect example of this. He came over as being a real tt at times, and was properly nasty in some of his comments to people, yet quite a few PH'ers have met him in person and have said that he's a really good guy. CW7 himself admitted as much, in that he played up because the nature of the forum allowed him to do so.

So, yeah, I'm with Vlad on that one. Would you say whatever you're about to write to person's face? If the answer is no, don't write it.
I'd happily say anything I'd say on here, to the persons face. I'm not with Vlad on that one, given the comments he'd come out with about other people, whilst stating they wouldn't dare say anything back to him. I believe the saying is "He calls a spade, a spade".
I call a , a .
It's just the internet.

I think some people just need to get over it a bit and grow thick skin, or get a sense of humour.

If you judge someone by their internet behaviour then you're a plank. It's almost impossible to convey any message in text with a degree of emotion, unless you're a fantastic writer and spend hours composing your messages.

Everyone on PH is a complete tit at times, but that is good. Imagine forums where everyone just got along and agreed. It'd be terrible.

Then there would be hardly any interaction, dispute or debate. Everyone just being nice to each other and saying how nice their crappy cars are....Boring.

You guys are missing my point by a country mile.

You both DO realise that disagreements, arguments and debate can all be had without the need to be obnoxious or rude?

I make a conscious effort to respond to people online as I would in a face to face situation, so I disagree with the notion that it's "just the internet".

It's looking like I'm alone on that one. Oh well.

s, the lot of you.

To be fair he posted a few photos (and maybe even a vid) of his Cherokee hanging some pretty good slides at an autocross to back it up! hehe

I didn't always agree with him and he wasn't very good at letting differing opinions go without endless debate, but he had plenty of good posts as well. Was good to have some variety from the monotonous biege Golf/silver 3-series brigade anyway.

He was spot on about the Cherokee being a good drifter... but then again anything RWD and with enough power can be drifted easily enough.
