£6k Manual Porsche Cayman (any time would be great)
Manual 911 50th Anniversary - nice if they could be affordable by 2022
Audi S1 Sportback
Skoda yeti Monte Carlo (not even released yet but looked great in the motorshow pictures - Skoda please put some more powerful petrol engines it with a manual gearbox than the 105 1.2TSI)

I've always wondered if modern cars will be economically viable to run in 10 – 15 years’ time, bit like the £100k+ Merc v12’s you can pick up now quite reasonably.
With MOT’s probably getting stricter, will all the electronic gizmos keep working or be cheap enough to repair keep todays cars on the road

IMHO, post 2000 £100k+ Merc V12s are not economically viable to run at any time. I was really interested in a CL65 but realistically, there is too much potential bork even if you can look past the 2nd mortgage for petrol costs. I read somewhere recently that the later AMG models are not significantly better. With MOT’s probably getting stricter, will all the electronic gizmos keep working or be cheap enough to repair keep todays cars on the road
Sadly, I feel that active suspension, ultra-sophisticated gearboxes and turbo-charged engines covered in sensors spell the end of running older performance cars on a budget. It takes long enough for the main dealers to work out what's gone wrong during the warranty period, even with factory backing. I think the local specialist will need to up their game considerably if they are going to keep uber-modern machinery going.
PS. I'm not talking about sat navs or seats or other things you can ignore. I'm thinking of a lot of complicated stuff that needs to work properly for the thing to move under its own power.

I agree. Arguably even more mainstream stuff will also be a challenge, due to the amount of electronic stuff to go wrong. Most cars will simply be scrapped. Trying to run a 10 year old C63 in 2024 is likely to be nigh on impossible. JsyM3 said:

You've just ruined my day 4C is a guaranteed classic in my eyes.
Mixed reviews, good performance, quite unpractical car, limited sales because demand is not huge but even so they can’t keep up with production. I’m sure the ones with the ugly bug eye headlights will command a premium in the future just because they were "special". (I think the Spyder headlights look miles better!)
C63 estate with LSD is definitely on my list but I wish I had a magic crystal ball to see where the values are going. Seems to me that so far they hold their value better than similar AMG cars?
