There are so many threads on other forums saying how PH just isn't what it used to be and how chavfantastic it's becoming . I appreciate there are now commercial pressures but interested to hear the thoughts of others on how the original spirit and ethos can be in some way maintained before it's diluted and lost forever
Its always the same - something starts up and gets a great rep. Then, as the popularity grows and word spreads more and more join up. Then the forum goes from its original crew that everyone loved etc to one that include its fair share of trolls and bellends. Original crew leave or get pissed off and all of a sudden the word on the street is 'it's not what it used to be'

I work with someone who is always complaining about their job, how crap it is and how nothing ever changes... They still come back in every day though ; )
This whole 'it never used to be like this' chat has always gone on, from pubs and sports clubs, to companies and villages... In the modern world we are even using this language to discuss forums! How very strange.
If you don't like it, just move on!

Any Forum I have ever been on there have always been threads like this with plenty willing to jump on the bandwagon and agree. I was on the TT Forum and had over 15,000 posts - I did end up getting bored seeing the same old stuff over and over again and left a few years ago.
I find that there is so much more to offer on PH, so many tailored sub-forums, lots of characters and plenty of idiots whose stupid posts bring a smile to my face on a daily basis.
It is the best forum I have been on by far and the variety keeps it fresh for me.

I also think this is a great forum, as with everyone in existence, pick your arguments, and ignore the knob heads...

hy post about someone who pulled out in front of youI think there's 2 main issues. The first one is the content isn't great any more. News stories come through too slow and the forums are a bit repetative with lots of idiots who can't just be happy, always have something negative to say and although they think they are making the place better by offering 'diverse' opinions, they are just usually spouting uninformed drivel to have an argument and grief people. I just don't get this.
The 2nd problem is the website is turning into a pile of cack. I get they need to generate revenue as this is a free website after all, but its fast becoming a chunky, slow, painful to use website because of all the ads loading on every page. Also on a number of occasions the classifieds wouldn't work for weeks at a time. So a good chunk of their income must come from classifieds and yet by trying to make a bit of extra money out of banner ads, a large portion of the population couldn't access, see or buy cars from the classifieds for weeks at a time. I suspect PH didnt tell people who were selling their cars that a lot of people couldnt see their adverts, nor did they offer them any kind of refund, but just continue to dishonestly take their money to provide a service they werent fulfilling. PH tech were slow to respond and fix the problem, so I for one won't be using PH classifieds any more to sell a car.
For these reasons I feel the website is doomed.
