It is very annoying reducing our motorways to only two or less lanes by sheeple and mouth breathers. If it wasn't potentially dangerous to undertake the afore mentioned retards then it would be ironic that you get done for undertaking but the mlm gets away scott free.
If there was a magic camera that caught them, I'm sure the problem would disappear almost overnight. instead we have to rely on BiB patrolling and we all know that there aren't enough police to maintain law and order.

Unreal, that looks worse than any group of MLMs I recall seeing. A lot of people are quite stubborn with driving habits!

I agree with your sentiments 100% And I do what you did.

However . . .

. . . had there been a police car about, it may well have been you they were using their powers against!

They would certainly not have been troubling the tts in lanes 2 and 3.

I doubt the police (anyway, what police?) would do me for undertaking in those circumstances as I wasn't weaving in and out dangerously, just making normal steady progress at the speed limit and keeping to the left, just like you are supposed to.

It's really bizarre, because the people in the other lanes were not even going at the speed limit!

If they did try and do me for undertaking I'd definitely have my day in court and submit the video evidence. I'd be very surprised if a magistrate would uphold such a charge in the circumstances...

Looks like my journey home from work most evenings on the A3; I'm usually doing no more than an indicated 65-70 in lane 1.

I would have driven the same as you.

People just aren't concentrating rather just ambling along in a world of their own.

But it's not a-fking-musing one little bit, though. I'm going to have to put up with weeks of 2200hrs to 0600hrs roadworks soon, while they strengthen the edges of the hard shoulder and upgrade it ready for 'managed motorway' status on the M3, because, apparently, there "isn't enough room for all the poor loves who just have to drive into London every day.

This is utter bks, there's plenty of space, or there would be if idiots didn't all drive too fast and too close to one another causing huge concertinas of braking behind them. So the solution to the (literally) millions of poor drivers out there is to give them more space in which to drive like morons and act selfishly? Give me strength! They tried that by widening sections of the M25 to 4 and 5 lanes wide, yet it makes no difference. The idiot MLMs just move out an extra lane, due to their medically proven allergy to lane 1.

This managed motorway idiocy will surely have to end when there are fatalities caused by breakdowns with no nearby refuge, or when the engineers "calculations were slightly out" and the hard shoulder starts to break up. It's folly, especially so when clips like that one from calibrax prove without doubt that the vast majority of drivers out there have nothing but contempt for the law and their fellow drivers. Round the feckin lot of them up and cull them, FFS. Idiots.

Shame you didn't have a rear facing camera too as I bet half those idiots in lane 2 were coming off at Gatwick and probably moved into lane 1 when you'd gone past to take the exit....

Aaaaand breathe!

It really is a case of going to the lowest denominator though, completely agree, more driver education would lead to better use of the limited road space.

However, I find that the older m42 managed motorway thing doesn't really work because you have to move over every time you pass a junction, but the new M6 one seems to work much better, but still there are people who don't sit in the left most lane. But in my experience it has improved the traffic.

If people just watched what was going on around them and used some comman sense, life would be much better on the commutes!

Regularly read on forums of people being stopped for doing what you did.

I know a couple of Magistrates. They'd sentence you to death by stoning if they could.

Same thing happened to me today but BIB were at the front of a cue of about 5 or so middle laners. They must of been doing near enough 50mph whilst I was in lane 1 doing around 65. This was a nsl bit of road too! Nice bit of example setting right there. Cheers lads!

It's truly depressing what has happened to driving standards in the country over the last 20 years. Just arrived back from a week driving around Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Belgium and France and the motorway/dual carriageway lane discipline I saw in every one of them was far better than in the UK. With only a few exceptions traffic was at or below the speed limit and most of the time the bulk was in the right-hand lanes, only moving over to overtake.

What's gone wrong in the UK????

The Police can't be everywhere unfortunately, especially on the motorway.

I'm not sure barreling down lane 1 in excess of the speed limit is going to encourage people to keep left either.

Did you overtake the police car on the inside?

Except I wasn't speeding, as I already stated.
