RE: Range Rover 5.0 Autobiography: PH Fleet

Hi Again,
It's now been finally confirmed the work has been approved by the LR warranty dept.
The car is booked in for the week commencing 29 September. LR will give me a courtesy car - Hopefully a new RR or RR Sport (think that's what I'll get next)for the week while it's in.
They have approved:
New upper tailgate - spray and replace
Repair and re-spray lower tailgate
Replace rubber strips on window edge.
So, all good news!
Rich

Fair play to LR.

Hi all,
Apologies for not writing sooner.
Last Friday, late afternoon, I had a call from the LR bodyshop saying the work has been approved! The reason for the delay was that LR close down for 2 weeks over summer.
Anyway, they're making bookings for early October so it should all be sorted out before another wet, cold and salty winter.
Poocherama - the rubber strips on the rear window are a very common issue - virtually every facelifted RR has this problem. As the parts are trim parts, they're not included under warranty. They're £38+vat each. MY friend simply removed his and polished up the glass. As the non-facelift cars don't have these, we assume they are just part of the tidying process for the facelifts. They might have something to do with the reduced wind noise too, I don't know.
The bodyshop said they'd try to get me new strips under the warranty when it goes in for its new tailgate & re-spray and apparently LR haven't made negative comment so my contact at the bodyshop assumes they're going to stump up and replace them too - that would be fantastic!

FastRich - Thank you for the info, very helpful.Apologies for not writing sooner.

Update - LR are replacing the entire tailgate under warranty, the body shop was very aware of the problem and had recently carried out several replacements.
My only gripe is still with the main dealer. This MUST be a well known problem yet they chose to ignore it, in my opinion pretty poor form, somewhat puts me off the brand.

No worries folks.
I'm just pleased LR have acknowledged the issue and are prepared to rectify it.
Thanks Chris, fair play indeed but as Poocherama says, it's a shame most dealerships' (at least mentioned in this thread) first respopnse is negative rather than apologetic/sympathetic/helpful.
On a side note, I was on business 350 miles away from home a week ago and my rear number plate fell off - it was only held on by sticky pads anyway but there was a LR dealership nearby, Farnells in Leeds. They COULD NOT be more helpful - they fixed it immediately, offered me drinks and food (even a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream!) while I waited and charged me nothing, even though they knew I wasn't local and would probably never go back.
Excellent service and actually, what it should be like at every high end dealership.

Hi All - Update time...
I've received the car back from LR.
They have done an outstanding job, all the work promised has been done and to an exceptional standard, so far as I can tell.
The service was good, the car was returned on time and freshly valeted and even the chap I'd previously managed to fall out with managed to raise a smile (probably because he was seeing the back of me!)
Even the courtesy car was ok - a brand new Freelander Auto - it had 50 miles on the clock when I picked it up.
So, thank you to Hunters Land Rover in Guildford - we got there in the end!
