Lots of threads on here contain statements like "I had one of those, wish I'd never got rid." but I can't find a thread that pulls them all together - a list of lost loves if you like. So, I thought I'd start one, and see how it goes.

The object is to post a pic of the one car you really miss, and maybe explain why you miss it. There will be no teasing, or trolling, or wind ups, just an opportunity for you to post about your lost love. (although this is pH, so there probably will be teasing, trolling etc).

Let's see if we can keep it nice and civilised.

I'll start.

This:

1997 C200 Sport spec - bought it in 2000 (p'exd a 12 month old A Class) and kept it until 2007 when I emigrated. Sold it to my Dad (pic is of it when he had it) who kept it as a 3rd car for 12 months before realising I wasn't coming back and he didn't need a 3rd car. He sold it to a "cash for cars" trader who kept it for himself.

It really was fantastic. Yes it had started to rust by the time I got rid of it, but not badly, and thanks to me being silly enough to only ever go to an MB dealer for servicing it was mechanically perfect.

I even liked the colour.

All that went wrong in the 7 years I owned it was the viscous coupling for the fan (fixed under warranty), the wiper mechanism went haywire (known weak point), and an ABS sensor went (which resulted in a brown trouser moment when it locked up on me on a damp road).

I miss it lots frown

According to DVLA it is still taxed, and MOT'd until March next year! (the A Class it replaced doesn't show up at all).

Right, your turn.

I sold this to free up capital for a project and really miss her. Hopefully I'll have another, or something similar, again in the future.

My scoob.

Traded it because it needed a few minor things doing for the MOT, and we wanted better fuel economy. It would do early 30s MPG on a steady long run, and averaged 28 mpg over the 30k miles i did in it.

It still felt strong at 110k miles. I had only just had the cambelt done at a main dealer (which actually made it run much better so i think the old one had stretched).

Lovely car, and i was a fool to have got rid when i did.

The Leon 2.0 TDI that replaced it depreciated by more than the value of the scoob in 18 months, plus was nowhere near the claims of 55 mpg, in fact we averaged 43 mpg with that. And we got rid and ended up in a Cooper-S becasue we were bored, and then the Cooper-S developed problems! cry

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't miss any of mine - I had a Mk2 Golf GTi 16v when I first passed my test and it really was the nuts at that age - but I don't get all misty eyed thinking about it - really it was a 13 year old, 120k mile car when I get my hands on it, it broke down a lot - yes Golf's are reliable, but only by the standards of their day and an 80's hatch that's seen that much mileage will break down a lot, be horribly cold in winter, stupidly hot in summer, steering at parking speeds really is a two-person job and the spax suspension and magnex exhaust just made it a chore to commute in, and whilst it felt really quick down a twisty b-road, in reality modern suspension, ESP and the massive tyres they fit now meant even back in 2003 a rep-spec Mondeo diesel could out-corner it and it wasn't too far ahead in a traffic light drag race either.

The VR6 that replaced it, was a lot more civilised, Back then VW hadn't released the R32 yet and the idea of a 2800cc 6-pot engine in a small hatch still seemed crazy - but drank more fuel - honestly, I think mine was sick but it was more-or-less as economical as Audi claim the V10 R8 is, but again they're not that fast - the gearing it really lot, they're motorway cruisers really - It felt more grown up, I actually removed a lot of boy racer bits for OE ones and despite the stupid fuel costs it was okay - it only let me down once - but when it did it burnt to the ground and tried to take me with it.

There's more, but they're the most memorable.

Aside from when redundancy meant buying a grand's worth of nasty Mondeo diesel, I've always liked every car I've bought more than the last.

That's exactly what I was going to say thumbup - mine was identical to yours (assuming it is a bugeye) but in silver. It was great, loved the power delivery and the seats were the best I've ever sat in.

I fear that in a months time the answer to this question will be my 911 which is having a euro jaunt before going up for sale weeping Still think I'll end up searching for another Subaru next...

I say it daily, but this.

I sold it in 2012 after 4 years as I had a child on the way and I was about to move to a bigger house. It was due a cambelt change and a couple of new tyres and I had to free up a few grand to pay fees etc. I was gutted then, and I still am. I'd happily buy it back if it came up for sale.

I've had a few cars over the years that I regret now selling, be it from a financial perspective, utility/practicality etc. But there's not one of them that I know I'd miss for more emotional reasons than the car I have now.

I really liked my 370Z and have occasionally browsed the classifieds for one. I'm not sure I'd want to repeat an ownership of any car, there are so many different ones I want to try out.

Mugello Blue with Oxygen Silver sideblades - it was a great colour combo imo.

My e39 M5.

Standard apart from a Kelleners exhaust that sounded great.

I bought it new from Barons Hindhead BMW in 2001. I went to look at an X5 and they had the M5 on display, new, in sterling silver. I owned it within 30 mins of seeing it with no test drive.

It did numerous trip across Europe and it was faultless never breaking down in 80k miles.

I kept it 5 years and 80k miles and loved every minute of owning it.

Miss but don't regret selling because it was time to move on.

My 2004 MG ZY-T 180 V6. Just a lovely old thing. The guy who sold it to me regretted selling it and bought it back after a year or so.

I have to say that I have a nostalgic memory for our old Volvo 940 Turbos. It wasn't old back then in 1993 of course. There was a certain style, and charm about the thing. Fast too for the time. Best in a straight line I recall.

I once regretted selling a car so much that I bought one just like it which I still own.

I asked my wife this question. Quick as a flash she came back with our old Mazda CX-7 which is still sort of with us, owned by her Dad.

A MK1 MR2. Had a few of them, just so cute and such fun to drive.

A Wedge. Not the Wedge I owned though, but I love the shape and sound of them so much.

Wish i'd never sold my A4 cab. Being an ex dealer demo it had just about every option in the book ticked, unusual colour combo, open top which was lovely for summer, 3.2 v6 255hp so had a bit of grunt when required, quattro so dealt with all the snow a couple of years ago effortlessly (i live at the bottom end of a very steep culdesac). It wasnt brilliant at anything in particular, but was just like a very comfy old shoe. I would buy it back in an instant if i could find it... frown

My first car, a 1993 Volvo 460 Xi. Affectionately named 'Volvina' by one of my good friends, I wish I never sold it. By any reasonable measure it wasn't a very good car but I loved its comfy and heated seats, the space it had compared to friends Fiestas and the like, it's slightly odd tendancy to lift-off oversteer and it's amazingly comfy ride. It also never really went wrong except for a slit coolant hose and a track rod end. Cost me £90 with 34k (genuine) on the clock and I sold it to a mates dad 3 years later for £250 and a case of Magners. Was gutted when I heard some youths had broken into it and tried to hotwire it damaging it beyond economical repair. With hindsight I'd never have sold it.

My Cavalier Turbo, I had a Cavalier SRI and Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 that I loved.
My gf at the time was using the SRI daily and I got a lift to work.
The lad who gave me a lift left for another job and I started using the Cosworth daily.
I knew it couldn't last, so I sold it and bought a Vectra GSI estate.
I got bored of that really quickly and started to look at Cavalier Turbo's, Id always loved them and decided to get one.
I chanced upon a very good one, it was in excellent condition, no rust on the arches or rear chassis legs, mint leather, the 4x4 worked and it was very well modded.

By luck, the seller wanted an estate car for carting his band's kit around, so we did a straight swap. I was well pleased!
It was a very reluctant sale on his part, and he always stayed in touched in case he was in the position to buy it back.
It turned out he never used the Vectra in the end and somehow he managed to talk me into swapping back!
Big mistake!! I hated the Vectra and regretted it.
I wanted another Cav Turbo. So I put the Vectra on Autotrader and managed to sell it very quickly.
By pure chance again, Jay decided to sell the Cav! I jumped at it and bought it back.
I then changed the wheels and did a few more mods. It then had a feature in Total Vauxhall magazine.
I enjoyed it for a couple of years and it was exactly how I wanted it.
Then I got a fateful phone call from a friends garage where I got all my work done. Someone had read the feature and saw me thanking the garage and used it as a way to get in touch with me.
It turned out he had seen my car and wanted to buy it at any cost. I told him it was not for sale, and would take a silly offer for me to consider selling it.
After a couple of hours on the phone he finally made me an offer about 3k over what it was worth.
At the time I had been starting to earn for an Audi S2 Avant, they were out of my budget, but now suddenly I had been offered enough cash to buy one!
Foolishly I accepted it, and as much as I loved the S2, I didn't love it as much as the Cav.

At the time it was considered to be one of the best in the country, and he promised it would be living a life of luxury and pampering to keep it as good as it was.
I had no reason to doubt him, considering how much he was buying it for!

These are the last few photos from when I owned it:

I often wondered what he did with it and how it was looking, and Jay (who I originally got it from) had even been in contact wanting it back too!
Then by pure chance, someone on the Cav Turbo Owners Register spotted it sat outside in a yard, so he went to see if it was for sale.
It was still the same bloke, and he wanted the same money as he had bought it for off me.
The only problem was, it had sat outside in his yard for a few years and was basically scrap frown
All arches were rotten, the chassis was rotten, doors were rotten, floor pans were rotten, leather all ripped and the headlining was sagging.
Totally ruined and literally worthless. Even if he had given it away it was beyond saving.
Jay wanted it back so much he even offered a more sensible figure, but the owner was totally deluded and still wanted top money for it.
As far as I know, its still sat there now rotting away. I was gutted when I was sent these pics from the person who found it.
