This one over in Japan is rather nice too, but is advertised at a minimum of 30m Yen;

More pics here; http://rockyauto.co.jp/stockcar/profile.cgi?_v=136...

That said, I think I'd prefer one the modified 240Z's that they offer;

Cheers for that really interesting. I can't read it (captin obvious here!), how much do they want in £££?

They are asking 22,000,000 JPY for the mostly stock, fully restored, 1971 KPGC10 Skyline GT-R (approx. 130k GBP), and 12,800,000 JPY for the Toyota V8-powered 1978 S31 Nissan Fairlady Z (approx. 75k GBP).

Rocky Auto seem to ask as much for an engine swapped KGC10 as they do for a KPGC10. Also happy to sit on that stock for years at that price until someone comes along. Some examples have been there, outside, for years and are not what you'd expect condition wise for the money you'd pay for an equivalent eg. 'Mk1 Escort' over here.

I better sort myself out with a nice GT-X before the PB Auction sets a new 'benchmark' for all variants of these cars.

So, the hammer came down on the RM Auctions Monterey sale KPGC10 'Hakosuka' Skyline 2000 GT-R at 220,000 USD. That's 242,000 USD including commission (around 145k GBP at today's exchange rates).

Interesting.

A wonderful statement of under-rated gorgeousness. A Japanese lotus Cortina or e30 M3 for only the price of a pristine Ferrari Dino plus change ?.......Must get one !!

I'm pretty sure the car in the article is the one I saw at Laguna Seca, the weekend of the Pebble Beach show. I spent quite some time around it. Stunning.

If it was part of Nissan's display at Laguna Seca then it was actually a different car.
