Isn't there the potential for much bork on those?
Don't know - I've had one for the last 2 years (c.20k miles) and nothing has gone wrong on it thus far....good to drive, well specced, good value and rather unusual.

I don't think the ride quality is bad on mine in comparison to other cars I've driven over the last few years( mine's the DCi 180 Monaco)....

Yep I agree but seem to fit the requirements. Plus looks like it has decent ground clearance.fallen out of the ugly tree, eaten by the ugly beast and then poohed onto the floor in the form of a car

What's the ride like? I crossed 'em off my list due to every review moaning about the ride.

Would a 1-series coupé fall within this budget?

Or was the requirement for "coupé" for something with more sporty styling, rather than just strictly 2 doors?
I think german cars are out due to the lack of actually having suspension
Well it looks like german cars aren't out as she bought a 2ltr Z4 softtop

We shall if it makes it to the house with our spine intact

Ride on mine is fine, I'd say firm but fine - don't have anything great to compare against as my Infiniti being a hardtop cab is a bit hard too, and my old K11 Micra was very soft.

Certainly nowhere as crashy as say a BMW on M sport suspension.

Volvo C70? Convertible hard top, suspension for comfort rather than fake sportyness, all but the SE Lux models come with 17" wheels. Ground clearance possibly not great.

Read the OPs last post. She bought a Z4.

Jaguar XK? You'd get a last-shape 4.2 coupe for under £20k now. You might even manage an XKR. Magic carpet-like ride quality, ground clearance is reasonable, plenty of charisma and noise.

ETA - just saw you said she bought a Z4, nice choice.
