Why is that? Do you actually like the leather on the Corvette gear lever?

Yes. Very much so.

But this is flemke's thread. I don't really think you have the right to make comments like that here.

Then don't read it.

Very strange that you'd feel the need to announce 'it makes you not want to live anymore' rather than just leave and find another thread to read.

Just to help along the discussion on the NS-X rear overhang, here's a slightly shorter one:

personally, I'm sticking with Honda's design.
That's because the front overhang is also too long, reduce that and the NSX might work aesthetically for me, functionally I'm sure it's great.

Now this is a tightly packaged mid engined car:

This is hideous (ignoring the black wheels ;-) and bodykit):

How Mr F can think it's remotely acceptable I simply don't know. And that massive bottom only houses a transverse 3.2 V6, I can only think that the need to accomodate 4 sets of golf clubs blighted it thus.
Yeah, you're right. Why couldn't Honda have made something truly beautiful, such as this:

It hardly makes sense for you to give as examples one of the best-looking F1 configurations next to an NSX that has been catastrophically butchered by someone whose day job is probably head of the Ferrari design studio.

Thats truly fooking hideous, I have seen boy racer body mods that manage better aesthetics than this.

Just reading back a bit, how can you possibly bemoan the "swirls" and concave door panels of the F12 as design failures then proceed to bring this forward as a design classic. Can I just point to the two armadillos that appear to have been stuck on top of the front wings and the double whammy concave on the door panels, and thats just for starters.

The details don't matter, it was the NSX's poor proportions that I was highlighting.

As always Flemke, thanks for the replay.

I don't know if you've personally sat in a C7 corvette before, but if you haven't, don't be too quick to judge. Quality is far superior than most other American cars I've been in. Rivaling even some German offerings.

As for the Mustang. I knew it wasn't at all your type. I'm just interested to see how it sells over in the UK. Most seem to like more refined cars. While the Mustang has surely taken a leap forward in the right direction, it's not quite there yet in my opinion.

As for the F12, it's hideous. A disgrace to the Ferrari name, although most modern Ferrari are disgraces as well. At least they're consistent tongue out
Oh come on, you are seriously trying to say that the F12 is hideous, it may have some slight flaws to its character, prefer the 599 myself, to say its hideous though is simply ridiculous.

No need to thank me for the reply by the way.

I'd guess that less than 10% of contributors in this thread have a mind or opinion of their own.

It's both hilarious and utterly tragic to read.

I like the F1 GT. I think the aura surrounding them being only 1 of 3 making them the rarest of the F1 varieties, and that this has had glimpses of publicity in the past but not enough as other F1 variants make it more intriguing. It isn't as beautiful as the standard F1, but to me it's a great answer to the regulations that brought it's being.

Latterly we've seen more of it, and hopefully the positive reaction to it had enabled more of the historic F1's to be allowed out of the MTC (It's on show at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, for those that are going smile )

H at MSO was aware of my interest in the GT and, having not seen it before, allowed me to see it in Unit 2 on my tour of a few years ago (although there were no pics of it allowed within Unit 2)

I say 'thank you' every time because it truly is a privilege to talk to someone who owns a car worth around 8 figures now. The knowledge I've gained from these forum pages is not something I could have gotten from simply reading a car magazine.

The F12 is an amazing achievement from a driving standpoint. From a visual though, it's far over designed. I much prefer the cleaner lines of the 599, although it isn't what I'd call perfect either.

Much as I respect your politeness Alec, it is perhaps a tad uncomfortable to witness and read such levels of sycophancy. Flemke is fortunate and his car choice is admirable, not to everyone tastes but admirable none the less. 5 volumes of script on the various nuance of the car though is quite something else, I would garner to guess that if you accumulated all the reviews that have been written on this car across the entire Internet that it would no come close to the wordage found on here.

Still, I digress and am not here to interrupt the love in, I am merely picking on the comments surrounding the F12 to which I disagree with, as will many others. All car evolution inevitable takes forks that not all will agree with. It should be noted though that Ferrari have been growing this car for more years than i care to remember, each evolution brings with it the baggage from the past and the requirement to look to the future, not an easy task for any design team, particularly when the eyes of the world are all over every angle of it, many with different agendas to fill.

The P1 on the other hand has no such restrictions, its a clean slate and they can do as they will with technology and design, what they have produced is of course brilliant, it remains to be seen though whether they can continue to evolve it as Ferrari have done for the last 50 years while keeping to the principles that they started out with.

So in short, it is ill advised to slight Ferrari and their direction without taking into consideration the position they are coming from.

1. I love the McLaren f1

2. I am not extremely well off as some are in this world and could never afford one

3. It's not everyday you get to talk to someone who owns a car of only just over a hundred built and worth that much

So naturally I am very appreciative

You also mentioned that no one has opinions of there own. In fact I do, but I'm not going to be rude about them to others. People come here to here about the McLaren F1 with occasional comparisons with other cars. They also come here to see the latest with Flemke's own F1.

They don't come here to hear about some random forum members opinion on the greatness or terribleness of the F12. Opinions do come up occasionally, but when they do, if you don't like it, just ignore it.

Sometimes this forum can get very annoying and immature. Why can't we all calm down and just talk cars, specifically the F1?

I'm sorry if it comes off as sycophancy. It truly is just appreciation and gratefulness. I'm actually far different for Flemke when it comes to automotive opinions, besides our love for the F1 and NSX. I guess we both love driving purity. But who doesn't?

Perhaps I am too hard on Ferrari, but it's no secret that I dislike their current offerings and disagree with the direction the company seems to be taking. I dislike McLaren's direction too, although that may be because their direction confuses the heck out of me. And their nomenclature is even more confusing than Infiniti

Also, don't call me Alec. I hate that name. It comes from a certain controversial actor

there are at least four F1 owners on PH.

I have posters of all of them on my wall, my heros
