I had been reading over the vol4 thread and someone had posted a picture of the car when it was the lighter blue.

Wrt that blue car, yes, I seem to recall it. Your photo is starting to make me ask myself whether I should change the colour back to something less dark. This can be a very slippery slope. Help!
Maybe I missed a very obvious whoosh parrot, but glad you're satisfied with the final result! I'll tell the colour mixing blokes at Homebase to stand down.
Oh, okay. I think my comment was meant tongue-in-cheek, as it had taken me 9 years to get to the dark blue. In the particular photo that you have used, I think the blue does look pretty good, but in real life it looked that colour about 2% of the time.

Flemke, a design question.....

The angle that the rear bumper joins the shell. In my eyes it should have the same angle as the top of the scoop/line in the door, or is it supposed to carry the line up from the bottom scoop thingy (that seems to be curling up)?

It just seem to stand out in the photo, I was wondering if it was noticeable in real life?

1100kg dry weight, gold currently £25.29 a gram = £27.8 million.

Different angles.

Because the three strakes along the door are part of a single piece, rather than being shut lines as is the join of the body to the bumper, the fact that they are at a different angle to that shut line is less of a visual "issue", I would say.
For the shut line at the back, there wasn't a much different angle possible, as it had to go from the back of the wheel arch to the corner of the rear wing. Other angles would not have made sense. I'd agree with you that it would have been more elegant to have the shut line be a continuation of one of the strakes, or at least parallel with them, but it couldn't happen.
In the photo that you have exampled, the light reflecting off the bottom strake makes that line more obvious than it normally appears to be.
I think Peter Stevens tried to compensate for lack of parallel by having the rear shut line work off the rearmost part of the luggage locker door shut line, where it bends down. This seems to me to have been fairly successful.

9ct gold going for just under £10 per gram.... 1kg being just under £10k, 1 tonne £10 million, F1 weighs 1140kgs so I suspect the gold would be more.... Even if it's only 9ct but it's not far off hehe

I reckon an F1's weight in gold would be in the region of £25-30 million, so not quite there... yet.

I was having a go on the 675 configurator, seeing how I'd set one up, they've really nailed the camo paint!

Although this version had precious little downforce, its drag numbers were the best ever recorded.

I don't like the black detailing: it draws too much attention from the main bodywork.

There is virtually almost nothing not to like about this, for the fist time ever we now have a car that no one can find fault with in the design. Perfection

What I simply do not understand, Steve, is why the only images Ferrari have released are cutaway drawings that show the plumbing of the rear wing air intake, but there are no pictures that show the finished bodywork. Weird, eh?

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? hehe

In other news there's an interesting livery on the Ruf CTR3 at Geneva. What is it they say about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery? smile
