Or the P13?
As it has not yet been unveiled, I have no particular thoughts on it.
Ah, when you alluded to the fact that you'd been to the factory and seen something you'd liked (or words to that effect) I had assumed you meant the P13 rather than the 675LT.

I saw that Clive Joy has the same chassis number for his P1 and F1 - do you?
No, because I was not persuaded until fairly late in the day that I should buy a P1, and by then my chassis # had been taken by someone else (who by coincidence is a former F1 owner).

If this was a couple of weeks ago, it was a preview for the 675, details of which were made fully public about a week later.

Nice pictures, although the text contains several errors, such as:

- The origin of "McLaren Orange" had nothing to do with looking good on colour TV. Rather, Teddy Mayer wanted a colour that would be most visible in the mirrors of Can-Am backmarkers, and chose orange for that reason.

- They're confusing Paul McCartney w George Harrison as an F1 owner.

- "MP4" at the beginning of the designation of every McLaren Formula One car does not stand for "McLaren Project 4". It stands (stood) for "Marlboro Project 4", as Marlboro brokered and bankrolled Ron's Project 4 team's merger with McLaren.

I never knew that, I always just assumed it was the former. I've always wondered if there was still cigarette money in them if I'm honest-no genuine reason apart from the mclaren chevron logo still just looks like a Marlboro one to me (albeit rounded off).

Indeed today's McLaren "swoosh" is an evolution of the previous red "tick" above the "n":

In one of The Beatles videos, for the song 'Real Love', PM can be seen getting out of XP5 and it was after then that it was assumed he owned an F1. He certainly had the money for one. But GH had, and now his son DH through the GH trust, has an F1, quite a special one too

I had always wondered if the was a connection between the red 'tick' and Marlboro. I was not aware of the Marlboro element to MP4.

I must be misunderstanding ... the Beatles and the production of the F1 in no way crossed time-lines, Shirley?

Real love was a 'new' Beatles song - released sometime in the 90's I think to go along with some reissued/remastered albums

Saw this last night at Ace.

Rare as in red it seems. Andretti's old car apparently.

It was given to Michael Andretti as part of his contract for driving for McLaren in Formula One in 1993 (IIRC).
Part of the deal was that, once he got it from McLaren, he could not sell it for one year.
My understanding is that, starting from the day when he received it, he sold the car 366 days later.

Probably not his best business decision.

He should have driven it a few miles then stashed it away, only getting it out for an annual check-up (service - 'nowt needs doing lad').

Got it out now and sold it for ££££££££££££Million.

I doubt he did anything more profitable with the cash he got after those 366 days!

I was told that he never drove it.
Yes, on the face of it, he left a 1,000% (pre-tax) return on the table, although we don't know what he did with the proceeds. If ultimately they were essential to his setting up Andretti-Green, then maybe that was a better use of the money.

I'd be interested in your comments on this Flemke. Chris Harris is extolling the benefits of the P1's usability, but IIRC you had a different take on things?

Heres one for you Flemke, helping out in this and we have Maclaren coming along with the possibility of some new metal. Would be good to see you there throwing your P1 against its peers, or even the F1 for that matter.
