Not yet; it's been PDI'd, but I should collect it next week.
My initial impression of the driver's manual is that it's about 10 times too long.
My intention when I collect the car is to tell the McLaren guys how I want the electronic gizmos set, they will set them, and then I hope to forget about them.
My initial impressions of the car are from when I drove one of the development/demonstrator cars about a year ago. It corners like it's on rails, it stops like it's got a parachute out the back, and the rate of acceleration is very similar to the F1's. Is it as pleasurable and satisfying to drive as an F1 is? Nowhere near.
Interesting thoughts, and probably what I expected. Though I am surprised you didn't say it felt quicker in acceleration than the F1. I mean, it's about 15% quicker to 100....thats fairly significant. My initial impression of the driver's manual is that it's about 10 times too long.

the ET differential of which you speak comes from:
1) launch control, which shouldn't really count at all - it certainly does not affect the sensation of speed - and
2) the fact that in the F1 you have to shift manually, and thus your rate of acceleration declines for those momentary interludes.
I would say, and I think the data back me up, that, once you're in motion, the F1's in-gear acceleration is every bit as quick as the P1's - and because of all that's going on, it's definitely a more intense experience.
Hi Flemke congratulations on the P1,it looks stunning in the matching colour of the F1! how is it living up to your last drive of the development car .
Are you able to say how many personal touches you have made like the gold around the exhaust etc
I would love to see both cars together that would an incredible photo . I hope your enjoying all your cars when you get the chance

Flemke - long time.
Are you signing up for the P1 race car programme?
As ecsrobin says, no. As in, NFW.Are you signing up for the P1 race car programme?
I have no interest in it for its own sake, on top of the fact that, as I have said to McLaren, I think the programme, which was first mooted after everyone's P1 order had been taken and deposit paid, is something of a betrayal. The factory had promised a max of 375, they had promised no subsequent "better" version, and then this. The GTR is a good-looking car, but it's not for me.

Not sure where you saw a picture of the car, but glad you like it. I still have to get a white stripe painted on the side; will do that after I go on a bit of a drive next week. I have not yet driven the car properly, so I've nothing intelligent (if ever) to say about how it compares with development car, except that, apart from F1, it's got the best driving position I have ever used. Wrt optional things on the car, they did the gold heat shields on about 10 cars all together, AIUI. I had them put another "Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team" badge on the rear grille; not sure whether anyone else has done that.
For the interior, apart from a few rotary dials, everything else is either matte carbon or matte black, which IMO looks better than the brushed ally look that is standard. As that took a bit of effort, and I think a changed supplier or at least a supplier that changed what it claimed was "possible", I am not sure whether anyone else has the same finish on those items.
I was told that someone else wanted to have the same colour paint after seeing mine, but the factory told him/her that the paint was proprietary and that they would have to come up with their own colour.
Because of the car's complexity, it is inherently less amenable to modification than is an F1. One can play around with interior and exterior colours, but that's about it.

Just a thought - if Flemke isn't going to purchase one of the P1 track cars who will get it as i seem to recall that McLaren have said that only P1 buyers would be allowed to buy one.
Apart from Flemke how many other P1 road car owners have not taken up the option to buy?
From what I've heard it's about 30 so far.Apart from Flemke how many other P1 road car owners have not taken up the option to buy?

I didn't think they were building anything like the same number of GTR's as road cars.Apart from Flemke how many other P1 road car owners have not taken up the option to buy?
ETA: it seems like McLaren haven't said how many they are going to build, so I obviously imagined numbers will be less the road car numbers.
