Agree 100%. With the new series they have finally reached the point where there is no connection to the original, except the name.
Precisely how is it not connected to the original? Last time I checked, it was still a luxury 4x4 capable of going off road whilst remaining comfortable on road carrying 5 people.....is this not exactly what the original did?

I'd have both if I was able to realistically consider either. There's a place in the world for having a Classic and an SVR. And strictly speaking, the RRS is not really meant to be the same car as the original Classic RR.

Not really, was conceived as a posh off-roader for people who found the standard car (Defender) too 'off-roady'

All that has happened with tech and peoples (majority) views of luxury have moved on. Just some velour seats and electric windows etc doesn't really cut it anymore.

Christ sake the duster is more luxurious than the original Range Rover.

They sell plenty of 5L SC which at 510hp is the same sort of economy. The main difference is this one clearly handles like a sports car as opposed to a boat.
Do they though? I've hardly seen any.

I bet this will be a fantastic car! Even the latest 3.0 SDV6 feels like a quick car, especially considering its size, so 550 bhp will be great fun.

I'd feel quite stupid in the first one...

Both are great cars in their own right.

Think I'd have the first for tearing across country and mountains, the latter to continue the journey when the former broke down.

As would I. I never liked them anyway and I'm old enough to remember when they first came out.

Precisely.

Hmmm...the front bumper doesn't look as much of an obstacle to off-road ability as it looked in the previous pictures all covered in camo. - I'd like to see how much clearance it has with the suspension in off-road height.

Your local gangsters/estate agents/soccer mums choice of "ride".

£92K Pahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha you can say cheerio to £20k in the first year of chelsea driving.

I'm a huge fan of the nurburging and the test it provides to any "car", but sticking a lap time on this thing is like asking David Cameron to do a lap of Monaco on race weekend. You know he could probably do it, but it would be awkward as hell to watch laugh

Hate to say it, but think the bottom one looks better in every way, much better proportioned, more purposeful and a lot better finished, I dont get the out and out love for old Range Rovers, they are ok and have a certain charm but most people would just think you are some eccentric old farmer or a member of the off roading fraternity.

Still dont have much desire for either, even with mega firepower but the old one doesnt fill me with joy like most of PH.

Depends how many are available in year one, if not to many they should hold quite well imo.

I think it looks fantastic, and Estoril Blue is a lovely colour....although I've always had a soft spot for blue. The VW colour 'Deep Blue Pearleffect' has been a favorite of mine since it launched on the Mk4 Golf R32.

There's quite a nicely produced (if somewhat over the top!) launch video here:

Racer have they pulled this vid ? I can no longer see it.

I'm not sure to say the least. However, every time I seem to have this feeling the car in question sells in vast numbers....(what does that tell you?)

You can spend alot of money to stand out, but nothing does discreet style better than an original range rover imho.

I would happily have one.

In that colour scheme if possible. New Sport is a very nice car to sit in, better looking than the original and actually handles really well.

550bhp would make me very happy. smile
