What new car from 1990 would you run as a DD?
Discussion
Well, apart from the '90/G 205 we currently have as a DD...
Can I stretch it back a year, instead of for'ard? If so, I'd have another CX GTi. My old one was on an '89/G. Or maybe a turbo this time. Or another Saab 900T16, but that's probably too obvious. Or another Alfa 75 v6 - last one I had was an autobox 2.5, so I'd quite like to try a 3.0 manual.

If this could be stretched a year to 1991..
This is my current daily drive, a 1991 Sierra Laser. Ideally I'd like one with a higher spec, but this car is just so dam reliable I cannot fault it at all! This picture was taken today after I gave it a bit of love with a polish.

Wooooah, nostalgia This takes me about as far back as I can remember... my dad had the estate in this colour. I still remember taking the hand brake off and almost rolling it down a bank and into a river when he got out to look for a picnic spot!! I think I even remember the reg: C972YDC (I was a strange kid). This is my current daily drive, a 1991 Sierra Laser. Yes. A Ford Cortina GL (fair warning, it's the Daily Mail). There are also abandoned cars with delivery mileage in a disputed area belonging to either Cyprus or Turkey.
Just like a couple of the other responses, I'd probably go for a Sierra though I'm not sure which trim level. I'd probably aim for a GLX, GLS or Ghia. Might as well get the best 1990 had to offer.
Jesus, that place... those cars. And look at that Cortina... amazing. Getting off topic, I know, but stumbled across this just now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRFiSUH4gdQJust like a couple of the other responses, I'd probably go for a Sierra though I'm not sure which trim level. If we could just stretch it to 1991 (public sale) then I choose a W140 Merc 500 SEL.
Still does 99.9% of 'car things' better than almost any model on sale today.
Final production models were kicking around in 1990, so im going to allow myself to have it
Yep, if we could bens the rules just slightly I'd have one of these. If not, give me a 190E Cosworth or a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth.Still does 99.9% of 'car things' better than almost any model on sale today.
