WHICH FAMILY CAR TO BUY?
Discussion
Need a bit of help - looking at getting a new family car very soon as our Audi Allroad has started having lots of problems. Really keen on some of the Volvo big cars. We are a family of 5 so need lots of space and preferably the option of having 7 seats for those longer journeys. Just wondered if anyone can recommend the best models we should be looking at and whether you think we should go for 2nd hand or new lease options (not tried this before so not sure if its worth it). Any suggestions?

Don't remember the OP having that in their criteria, on no, they didn't, it was yours! We both need to await OP to verify first

Thanks but we are quite keen on getting a volvo
Probably best to get a Volvo then. If you go to a Volvo dealer, they will be able to show you each model and you can work out which one fits your requirements. As we don't know your requirements, I can guarantee that pretty much every model will be recommended by someone on here, as pretty much every car they make seats 5 and can transport a family. Whatcar.co.uk does some very good summaries of the pros and cons of each model.Welshbeef said:

Legally you can stick a third child in the middle with nothing more than the adult belt. Not obviously that you'd want to do it regularly if it's a squeeze and probably not one for the OP but it's worth remembering for the few times your childrens friend wants to come round after school.
We have an XC90 and are very pleased with it.
The middle seat has a built in flip up booster as standard.
Family pack adds flip up boosters either side - although a very rarely specified option.
Not sure what some posters obsession with isofix is. Quite happy to secure my kids seats with the seatbelt.
None of them have been killed yet.
(Actually I do know why the obsession with isofix - it's for people who can't work out how to install a traditional car seat)
