Superb stuff from Snijers.

There's a lot of good footage from the Manx Rally.

Superb. You can see why the early M cars have a strong following!

Watch this video most weeks.

Drive this most days.

Been toying with copying the Prodrive livery. Absolutely love these cars. Especially ones that get driven as opposed to just polished, such as Chris Harris' GrpA replica.

Just so good to watch. Fast and brutal.

Lucky the semi trailing rear arm suspension didn't catch him out.

Something about the little S14 that makes the E30 M3 so great. I need one so the M5 can have a older brother smile

I've got the video, It was the final round of the 1988 British rally championship. Jimmy McRae drove a Sierra Cosworth in the same rally but didn't get close. There's BHP video of the 1989 Mobil 1 rally challenge, simmer driving on the island in 6 different cars. The night before Stig Blogvist had enjoyed the islands hospitality until the early hours and still won. Can't imagine the latest drivers doing that!
I still have it on VHS too recorded off TV mind. I was 5 years old and it was awesome! I remember Colin McRae drove a nova and unsuprisingly stacked it and Steve Ryder I think said something like if he can control his enthusiasm he will make a future champion, how very true

[quote=Harald1974]Haaa , Memories :-)

Yes it is a prodrive car , and I remember it very well .

Patrick Snijers co-driver, Dany Colebunders , was living in the street of my parents at the time .
Even today , I still live in the same town as him . Dany is a super friendly guy and I got to meet Patrick and Dany several times together for an informal chat .
I still remember as a kid , that before going to a European rally , the rally car as well as the rally patrol car were delivered by the guys from Prodrive at the home of Dany .
It was quite common then that in the evening the car was taken for a spin up and down the street for fun . Those were the days ...

Still today , Patrick is one of the most respected rally drivers that Belgium has ever known . Even the last years , Patrick was still competing at the top level in a Porsche GT3 or even the new Prodrive Mini . He's still one of the fastest guys around ( that is if he doesn't break down or leave the road ... always on the limit ! ) .
Dany has led a very successful career afterwards as desert race co-pilot ( Dakar etc. ) and is now a committee member of the RACB ( Royal Automobile club of Belgium ) .

Because in their career , Dany and Patrick had so much wins , their attics were too small for all the Silverware ... go figure .
I "inherited" a lot of them , otherwise they would go to the dumpster ...
Only a small selection that stands proud in my garage

Fond memories coming back .

Cheers , Harald

Thanks for this note, it explains all the missing details, so pleased to hear both driver/co driver have continued their activities.

Hopefully the plans Toyota have will see a repeat of these kind of cars and drives in the near future?! I hope they don't pursue the 4 wheel drive route and spoil what could be great fun for drivers and spectators alike.

It's no coincidence that RWD Escorts have remained so popular and classic racing & rallying in general is so popular nowadays. I know nostalgia plays a part but I really think modern cars have lost some of what made many 70's and 80's cars great.

In a similar spirit in another iconic tarmac car - Simon McKinley. He's a bit quick (and absolutely loony)...

Pure driving genius.

Silly question - but is that particular rally car engine turbo charged or naturally aspirated?
