As an opposite to the knob thread, surely there must be things that other drivers sometimes do on the road that make you think "how good of you". For example this evening, an old lady pulled in to let me by, and then pulled back out. We were in a village, I wasn't harrassing her or tailgating, I was following at a good distance. However, she must have thought that she would only hold me up if she stayed in front and and decided to pull in and then back out. How good of her.

I've had that happen a couple of times recently. Hopefully I wasn't coming across as aggressive though!

Indeed. I see that quite often around here as it's somewhat "touristy". Not stopping for the view, as they rejoin immediately. (And, I've been known to do it myself if confronted by agressive tailgating)

Tractors that pull over every couple of miles to let accumulated traffic past always get a thumbs up, too.

When I was out in the tasmin in a extremely narrow road, a lorry pulled as far left as possible and stopped to let me by.

I don't think he would have done the same thing if I was in a clio...

That moment which is maybe two minutes out of two hundred hours driving when I come across another driver on a motorway who is aware of [i]everything[/] going on around them, and they make it easy for me and others to continue progress unimpeded, for example by slowing to allow drivers into the outside lane to pass lorries before anyone has to indicate, or speeding up as they pass to ensure I/others can pull out safely without having to slow down.

Little - near insignifcant things - but always pleasing.

To add to the tale, I got from the village (Longbridge Deverill) to Warminster, and was half way through filling with fuel when I saw her go past the filling station, so she must have been going quite slowly!

I went for a pushbike ride out to Flamstead after work today. Had a pint, and sat outside and watched a lad in a red fiesta with white stripes accelerate through the village. I thought "he's in a hurry"

About 20 mins later on a single track road, heading towards Redbourne was struggling up a steep hill, when he comes around the bend towards me, going quite fast, and then stopped, for me to continue up the hill. He had his window down, so I said "Cheers, I'm struggling a bit on the hills" to which he called "Yeah, it's a hard work on a bike"

Which beats the usual "CLIO with dents" accelerating towards you and leaving 6mm as they go past at 45 mph.

You've possibly met me then - I used to be the maintain current speed at all costs merchant, but then I realised I was being a tt. Hate it myself when people just pull out without seeing what's approaching at several leptons above their cruise speed.

Yesterday approached a cyclist in the Pennines.

Hung back, let them have their space, they saw around the approaching corner and waved me past.

Simple smile

Always pleasantly surprised when that happens. Rare, but cool.

With how people drive in Bristol, when someone cuts you up, and they have the decency to acknowledge and throw a hand up in apology I think "well alright then" as he's at least acknowledged he made an error, and perhaps may learn from it.

I do this as well. However, it's for my own preservation (people tend to forget what mirrors are) rather than helping anyone out hehe.
