Topical. Solo came out nearly a year ago.
Apologies, I've only just got round to reading it! It's still the latest Bond story though, right? I didn't say brand spanking new. Plus talking about Bond cars is always good fun, and I'd not driven quite a few of the cars discussed a year ago either.Preferably something British to keep the flag flying in full.
So that rules out Jaguar, Rolls, Bentley, and Aston for a start. You never know its so far away to the next film it could be the new awaited TVR!! Failing that a Noble, McLaren or even a modern Morgan are the obvious choices.
Personally I think the Lotus Evora would be a good choice while funding the UK deficit - or is that not British owned these days?

So because the owners aren't British they are no longer British companies? All of the engineering and manufacture of the final vehicles for Jaguar products is done in the UK. Fail to see how it could be more British. So that rules out Jaguar, Rolls, Bentley, and Aston for a start. You never know its so far away to the next film it could be the new awaited TVR!! Agh, how did I forget this??!?! Fantastic shout. In that light green colour would be perfect.
The issue with the One-77 is that he'd stick out like a sore thumb turning up in a million pound car.Plus Her Majesty would be hard pressed to justify kitting out one of 77 of Aston's rarest to do battle against what is inevitably going to be an F-Type Coupe (yes this is now a baddies car - thank JLR's latest advert).
A mapped and unbadged 330D.
It's understated, spacious, fast. But it is also economical (don't forget that we the tax payer finance James Bond) and no one is surprised when a BMW driver turns out to be a complete .
Basically, for tooling around like a total prick and at tax payers' expense, a diesel BMW is the right car. Or Audi.

Check the cover again then, its William not Ian Boyd ...Type R Tom said:
Well in these times of public sector cuts, MI6 must be included so saving £70k on Bond's car must be seen as a positive.
When's the new Esprit due?
I would love to see Bond in the new Esprit but will it ever get here? The F-Type Coupe would be perfect (looks and sounds sensational, fast) apart from everyone knows the bad guys drive Jaguars. If MI6 really need to save money, how about a tricked up MINI Cooper S Works? When's the new Esprit due?
The film could feature a city chase, where agility is more important than outright power and I'm sure Russ Swift could get one sliding round nicely! Yes, I know that MINI is owned by BMW but isn't it still a British engineered car? (plus the majority of non-PHer cinema-goers still think MINIs are made by Austin Rover). When I sold new MG Rovers back in 2004, a girl I met on holiday asked me if I could do her a good deal on a new MINI! Erm, no. Admittedly, not such a cult car over here (Canada) but I was driving to work with the guy I car pool with the other day (he's in his 50s) and we passed a BINI and he said, oh look, an Austin Mini!
