TOP LURKING!Surely I wasn't the only one to notice?!
Starting to like Cruise a bit more, seems to be developing a British sense of self-depreciation given how much time he's spent filming here over the years. Edge of Tomorrow was pretty good.
BTW how did he not get the mother of all static shocks as he boarded the chopper from the Khalifa, particularly given the dry/arid conditions in Dubai? Maybe it had a grounding cable...although it looks unlikely from that pic. Mysterious.

cruise does a lot of his own stunts and would do them all but obviously the film producers wont let him do stunts where he could be off the set injured, There is a picture /video on you tube filming the last mission impossible where he got up early and got the stunt guys to take him to the top of the hotel
( the Burj Khalifa , in Dubai, the tallest building in the world, ) in a helicopter and he jumped off onto to the spire and took a selfie
If we are in pedant modes then it's worth saying he climbed up the spires internal ladder rather than disembarking the helicopter onto the spire. He was up there about an hour with a lot of the crew in the spire below him. No less impressive for that though. No less impressive at all.( the Burj Khalifa , in Dubai, the tallest building in the world, ) in a helicopter and he jumped off onto to the spire and took a selfie

It could well be Nee. How many people call Moet fizz 'Mo ay' and think the name is french when it is not.
um what ??Moet spelt Moët is French the company that makes it is Moët et Chandon in the town of Epernay in France.
I'll get back in my box now.

As an American, one of the things I love about this site is the small languange differences. In this case it is interesting that the company actually pronounces itself "Neeesan" in the US, perpetuating the split pronunciation.
I've always thought the American way of pronouncing it sounded more like the Japanese way than the way we say it. I love how cut throat the car sales industry is in America though, much moreso than in the UK. Watching TV in Manhattan the other week, every other advert was advertising a 'Lexus GOLD sale!'. The next advert comes on announcing approved used Toyotas, Honda are up next saying "YOU DON'T WANT A TIRED OLD CAMRY, FORGET TOYOTA AND COME TO HONDA, TRY OUR NEW CIVIC SI COUPE!".

It's a Dutch name
and where are you getting that from ?if wiki is to be trusted this name was given to them by king Charles the VII of France, not sure why he would pick a Dutch name then
for the pronunciation yes the T is hard and in fact the O is pronounced OU in this case also.
the joys of the French language

"So if anyone should snigger as you offer them a glass of Moët with a hard 't', you can politely correct them – indeed, the winery's founder Claude Moët was of Dutch heritage, and pronounced the name 'mo-wett', not 'mo-way'."

You can tell he is a car guy from the motors in is movies.
Btw, I've never heard of the manufacturers "Neeesan" before. I clearly need to brush up on my motoring history.
Hehe I've not heard of 'Jag-gwar' either. I think the Japanese pronounce it 'Nee-san' so them saying 'Nee-sun' is half 'right' like us saying 'Niss-san'. Btw, I've never heard of the manufacturers "Neeesan" before. I clearly need to brush up on my motoring history.
The name 'Nissan' was formed as a contraction of 'Nihon Sangyo', and the first syllable is pronounced "ni" as in the name 'Nick' (short, not long), not like "knee". http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3c...
