I've got a Iveco 75e15 which runs 2 12v batteries in series to give 24v. They have let me down a couple of times so I'm looking to purchase a jump pack for emergencies

The CCA's for each battery is likely to be about 800ish (looking at web) if the batteries are in series does this double up as the voltage?

anyone recommend a fairly cheap jump pack that would be up to the job?

Biggest one I can find on machine mart is 500 CCA's and about £155

My ol;d Merc 609D was 24V and often had flat batteries due to longish periods of inactivity and some aftermarket ancilliaries that drained the power...

I found a normal, decent, 12V pack on one battery usually made it work...

Mine is a Clarke 900...this one: http://www.sitebox.ltd.uk/clarke-jump-start-900-oc...

No.

Would it not just be easier and/or cheaper to put the price of a reasonable jump pack towards new batteries? Perhaps only one of the batteries is on the way out and a decent test/proper charge would identify the problematic one and maybe keep it going?

ETA: ABS list the VARTA PROMOTIVE K8 (800CCA) for £170 all in delivered, and they're not the cheapest from memory.

Cheers

I did wonder if it was just were it sits for a while with a slight drain rather than the batteries on their way out, I last drove it sunday and this morning it would just turn over but no enough to fire up. I was also going to look at putting an isolator on it or just disconnecting the batteries in the future.

I also have an Iveco 75e that sits for ages and would often have flat batteries (something to do with the tacho clock?) anyway I put an isolator on it and bobs your uncle..
Well, almost anyway-one of the batteries is on the way out now but it will start with a jump from a 12v car so I'd assume a 12v jump pack would do it
