Tbo I have no idea about Tuthill's driving history - and have absolutely full respect to him for getting this car where it is - but, this is the second video I've seen of it now, and I'd love to see the car with a bit more than - what looks like - a good club driver in it. Compare and contrast the commitment with that shown in the recent 'Time for Tea' M3 Manx video. No disrespect meant to Mr Tuthill at all. And, again, many thanks to him for creating this car.
Richard is probably better known for his skills in older 911's. Always enjoy watching this..

Given how new the GT3 RGT is, I doubt he's pushing it as hard as it will go.
Cheers. Good viewing. But, again, quite 'gentle'. All things being relative of course!

Who are you... Walter Rohrl?
Just because I don't possess God like driving skills doesn't mean I can't see the difference between a really top guy - or someone who's 'on it' and a 'just' good one. I've re read my posts and think I made it clear that I don't actually know the true levels of ability Tuthill's but felt that I'd like to see this fabulous car driven in anger by a top flight guy. If you need to be Herr Rohrl to be allowed to comment I assume you're an ace then?

All in good humour and as already said fantastic that the man has got the car this far.

Comments are a bit 'meeow' frankly. Richard's a sharp driver, I sat with him in the passenger seat of an air-cooled car and thought his car control and commitment were excellent. It sounds trivial, but I was also impressed at how precise his braking was - the car was mostly sideways at silly speeds and all the while he was commenting calmly on various adjustments that might need to be made ... Would that I could drive half as well, frankly. Great to see the 997 being brought into the real world; and yes the suspension will be by Tuthills' long-time supplier, exe-tc http://www.exe-tc.co.uk/ not cheap but very good kit

Just the type of car the WRC needs. As it is the first proper outing for the car - I imagine they are holding a little bit back; and Rallye Deutschland is notoriously tricky - and mistakes easily made.
I've read they've had a lot of interest in the car; this is good. Imagine 5-10 of these in WRC/ ERC events. And more interestingly; they are planning on entering RallyGB....

Will any other Manufacturers/ prep companies take the plunge? You would think Prodrive could be interested with one of their Vantage GT3's...

Bring 'em on!!

I agree. Let's get away from silhouette versions of superminis and have some drama back in rallying.

There is more enthusiasm for videos of the Manx rallies in the 80s than for modern WRC.

Good to see them supporting the British car industry to the hilt.

Are there any off road vids?

Think we probably need to sit you next to Richard as he drives 'gently' in a 911. The you can serve the humble-pie whichever way you want.

Well said, Chris.

I can understand why someone might consider the GT3 RGT driving 'gentle' (relatively speaking)... but then again, what would you expect? It's a brand new car, he likely has hundreds of thousands tied up in build and development costs and it's the 1st outing. Binning it would be stupid.

But I have no idea how anyone could watch the Sweet Lamb video and not see it as highly impressive. It's a historic 911, not a 4WD WRC car.

I love this. Good on him.

Might have used a 4wd car though.

Awesome.

Pity it doesn't end too well but there is some not very gentle action here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ETEAUmYNk

Great vid... some committed driving there (on the limiter in 5th a few times just before the off). Lovely noise old 911s make.

I couldn't find any specifications list for this car.

Anyone have any idea what state of tune, etc. this is running?

Well done to Tuthill racing, as there aren't Lancia's around hopefully someone will feel the urge to use the modern day 308GTB rally car.

re spec / tune as far as I know (and i did see it mid build) mechanically (apart from suspension, cage, tyres etc) its a standard 997 cup car

they had to completely remove the race spec welded in cage and change for rally spec, think the air jacks came out, otherwise it was a question of ride height, suspension set up and what looks like a red wrap

am not sure Richard is 100% "on it" myself and think thats because this is only 2nd time out post Harry Flatters rally and the car is more "proof of concept" at this stage

but of his driving skills I have zero doubt!

Sensible drive to finish the rally while others were falling off the road left right and centre! Top 30 finish, not bad considering.

That car looks fking MASSIVE on those roads - I love the idea of this but I think we might have to accept that modern 'sportscars' are a-bit-too-fat for road-based competition???

I mean you COULD show-up in a lowered Routemaster but it's not the ideal choice is it? ;0

Imagine it on the closed roads of the Jim clark.

And imagine the other possible GT3cars, Exige? f430? Viper?

Makes sense. Its not going to be competitive otherwise.

A road-spec 997.II 911 GT3 is 1770mm wide.
The 2014 Polo R WRC car is 1820mm.

Hi Chris. Think you need to read ALL my words/comments - not just the ones you want to comment on. biggrin

Anyway - again - well done Mr T.
