Interesting how opinions and interpretations differ.
The interior is one of the highlights (apparently) with universal praise. AFAIK none of it is fake... i.e. wood effect is real wood, metal effect is real polished Alu etc.
Ok the plastic fake chrome trim is actually real aluminium trim but why do they have to surround everything with it?The interior is one of the highlights (apparently) with universal praise. AFAIK none of it is fake... i.e. wood effect is real wood, metal effect is real polished Alu etc.
Why does the dashboard-mounted ipad and centre air-vents need a shiny aluminium surround?
Why do the side air-vents need a shiny aluminium surround?
Why is there a shiny aluminium piece of trim between the wood and the lower part of the beige plastic dash?
Does any of it actually need to be there? I don't think so.

That's a fairly ridiculous list of points. If you don't want anything superfluous or anything that doesn't HAVE to be there then buy a Dacia. Why do the seats have to be electrically powered, they don't NEED to be. In fact why is the wood there when matt black plastic would do just as well? Why does the dashboard-mounted ipad and centre air-vents need a shiny aluminium surround?

[quote=kapiteinlangzaam]Probably the most important car for Volvo ever....
Prices are up, at around £45k for the base model D5.
Looks great IMO, time to start saving

There is certainly a bit of a Touareg hint in these shots. I bet it looks better in the flesh. The "semi-leafy suspension" sounds discouraging though.

Does anyone know how heavy it will be, what with its fancy SPA platform, ickle 4 cyl engines and 2wd-only on the base version?
Obviously the T6 with its electric motors and all that gubbins will be no featherweight but have they managed to make something lighter than the current version at the bottom end of the range?

Handsome. And cleverly conceived.
Volvo will sell zillions of these to upper-middle-class families. Which mother will not swoon at that smart interior combined with the Volvo mantra of safety ueber alles?
A side comment... The foreign exchange meme rears its silly head again: UK sources are quoting around £45K; US sources around $45K.

The A4 size screen looks stupid.
Cannot possibly look as stupid as the recent offerings from BMW and Mercedes; I mean these screens that are just bolted on top of the dashboard like a drunken afterthought.De gustibus non est disputandum, but I actually quite like this interior, especially if the screen had the option to be turned off completly.

Not sure it's going to be as successful as the current XC90. The current range retails for c.£30k for a top of the range model. £45k is quite a jump for the base model. The £30k barrier seems to be a ceiling for a lot of buyers.
Think you mean base price, as the basic ones go for about £37kThe top of the range one (I went on Volvo's website and ticked everything in the configurator)seems to be just over £50k.
I like Volvos, and used to be very brand loyal towards the,
Really I would have to see this in the metal.
I agree with the over use of bright bits inside but surely you'll be able to sec the aluminium and wood out.
Not as handsome as a present generation RRS, low on poise and style, high on the Teutonic Audi VW architecture. Just impressions off a couple of photos. My view may change when I see it.
