I don't understand Nissans approach to this car. The 344bhp should be standard on the base model. Ok bhp figures are not everything but this cars needs the numbers to get interest. The us Hyundai genesis coupe offers 350bhp now in the base spec 3.8. I can't believe Nissan the ability to release some hp and up the rev limit, I think it's been such a flop they can't arsed, too much badge snobbery in Europe in this sector
Just had a look at those, quite nice isnt it, they dont sell it over here, which is a shame, the base model has the same engine as the others in the range which they quote as 348 bhp.I don't think Nissan do seem to be all that bothered about the 370, I suspect they will quietly drop it off pricelists, they have only ever sold 1600 or so according to howmanyleft, but I love that fact.
M power engines do a little better from a given capacity 105 bhp/litre versus 95 bhp litre, weight wise I don't think they are going to be able to lose huge amounts without compromising on the luxuries it has or going with more exotic materials and raising the price, it is a bit of a Dinosaur and these will be its last year or two so it isn't going to change, it is what it is.
I wish they would though, 400 bhp and a bit lighter would do, I dont think even then it would be getting anywhere near treading on the GTR's toes.
Next one will be a turbo 4 cyl I guess.

Nismo back in the day meant chassis improvements (seam welding, etc), less weight, more power and increased/improved aero.
It's like we've got that, but they turned the dial to 1 instead of 10.

Maybe there isn't anything they can do with the engine to easily gain more power without upsetting drivability, noise, emissions or something else, its N/A so it isnt a case of cranking the boost up a notch.

The main point is the 344 offered on the NISMO should be standard at this stage. All through its life the 350z got power increases, at the end it was over 20bhp up on the original version. They have more displacement to play with on this model, but with the 370z they feel the need to charge an extra 10k for it.M power engines do a little better from a given capacity 105 bhp/litre versus 95 bhp litre, weight wise I don't think they are going to be able to lose huge amounts without compromising on the luxuries it has or going with more exotic materials and raising the price, it is a bit of a Dinosaur and these will be its last year or two so it isn't going to change, it is what it is.

The NISMO version shouldn't be concerned with emissions etc, it should be getting on somewhere near the race version of the 380rs..370-380 with a screaming rev limit

I don't think the new bumper/fascia is any improvement over the old one; they're both awful.
IMO, Nissan lost the plot years ago. I would never buy one, as they have some of the most asinine "engineering" I've ever seen. Woe to anyone who gets stuck working on one.

The GTR - half as desirable as other supercars, what a load of tosh.. How on earth can you make a statement like that.
Back on topic, I've driven a Cayman and an S but not a 370z. I thought the Cayman was great. If I was fortunate to be buying in this sector right now I would test drive and then decide.

That's a pretty negative take the car. You DO know the 370z lapped quicker than the pistonheads fabled m135i, golf r, m3 csl, a45 AMG, m235i, in an autoexpress track test. By well over a second.
Not bad for a 1500kg porker that "only" does 100 mph in around 12 seconds.

Don't know where the M135i fell down as it supposedly outclasses in every department?
I think many confuse compliant handling that allows you to go quickly with the sensation of speed with crashy 'sports' suspension that feels quick but is unsettled by mid corner bumps. Not bad for a 1500kg porker that "only" does 100 mph in around 12 seconds.

I think these will be sought after in years to come as they are (from a tuners point of view) the new Skyline or upmarket Corsa (!).
What I mean is, it has a good base, it's just that Nissan have been a bit reserved whereas the aftermarket won't need to be.
You have been able to buy full bolt on turbo kits for years now, add one of those, some wheels, suspension and of course a better exhaust and you will have something really impressive.
Not something you would do on a new one, but in years to come....
