I remember you used to get classified ads for free if you were a long-standing member/contributor. I didn't qualify by only a couple of months.. I wonder if that date cutoff has moved in the three years since then?

A great idea from Pistonheads!

Perhaps they could offer a discount if you promise to put a sticker on the car you are selling (with a little strapline "This car was sold via Pistonheads.com".

Hi everyone,

Just to clear things up, we're currently sending out a free sticker to anyone who places a private advert in the classifieds as a little thank you. They've been going out for the last few weeks (ones going out at the moment will be for people who placed an advert last week) and will carry on for another couple of months.

I'm assuming that the OP must have done just that... either that or the umpa-lumpars in the sticker workshop have gone crazy and started sending them out willy-nilly!

Nope - but I believe I'm right in saying that to qualify you must place a classified advert in the cars section. On this basis there are only a small number of people that can post in this section for free courtesy of their "grandfather rights".

Nope. I missed out on it narrowly too.

Still, they've fked up the classifieds so badly since then, it's not like it actually matters any more!

So, the threshold for free advertising isn't going to move as time goes on? As mentioned above, I was only a few months short of being "rewarded for my long-term contributions" when that scheme was brought in, I'd like to think in the three years since I've been adding at least a vague hint of value on occasion
