Design brief conversation:
(designer) What would you like.
(Product chap) Well ideally we'd like an R8, but Audi already thought of that.
(designer) So, like an R8 but French?
(product chap) Yes. Oh, and paint it yellow.
(designed) Will do...

Who thinks up these names? "R.S. 01" reminds me of the clinical (no pun intended) way in which the Soviet Union used to name hospitals.

At least there's full stops, won't get mixed up the Porsche RS variants. 01 stands for the pole position, shirley? Because racecar.

Makes me want to see race coverage, that's what matters. smile

Agreed, pretty much every line bar the rear is the same.

Looks like it has been designed by a GCSE Design student who picked up a few racing car brochures and then mocked it up on his home PC the night before his boss wanted the final product.

No doubt the handling will be immense, however. Renaultsport is easily the FWD equivalent of Porsche's RWD, these days.
Did you see your mate draw it in class?

Meh, doesn't work for me. Looks outdated already, nowhere near as good as the alpine concept

Need new generation of wheel designers urgently!

Applicants from Ripspeed Design College need not apply.

First thought that crossed my mind after seeing the top pic was "R8". It may be (more than) a bit derivative, but that doesn't make it any less gorgeous.

scratchchin Carbon tub, mid-mounted GT-R V6, RWD... cloud9

If any manufacturer has the balls to make this into a (street-legal) reality, it would be the nutters who mercifully graced us with these:

Do it, Reanaultsport!

i like the looks. apes the r8 and there's some cayman in the lines, but it works. nothing special or new but it works.

problem is that there's no renault design language in there. nothing off the wall or WTF.

if this is based on whatever chassis caterham and alpine cooked up prior to their parting of the ways, i only hope the former make it look a little more original whilst coming in MUCH cheaper!

Front wheelarch back and especially the roof line looks very much like an R8 with a hint of konisegg thrown in for good measure. no bad thing i suppose. like it.

The designer has done a great job of cribbing some great lines from some decent cars currently on the marker and then fusing them in a sporty and relatively unfussy composite design.

The AUDI R8 mkII design team just choked on their mocca chocca frappa lattes.

Acording to the F1 journos, the hybrid and harvesting elements to their F1 engine are the absolute best on the grid, they just need another 40BHP from the petrol engines.

McLaren MP4 GT is about £300k+vat, for a race car package is probably not far off.
