It's extremely beneficial if you have small children strapped into the rear seats. smile

"however they said the satin-finish brightwork was too much of a pain to replace, so was left in place. I still think it looks stunning, but secretly wish it had the black window surrounds!"

Confused by this - three out of the four cars pictured in this thread have the black surrounds. The last model RS6 Plus came with them as standard if I recall so presumably this is pretty normal? Can't understand why they'd have to replace them come resale time. The black finish on the Aussie car looks way better.

No, apparently sticking blinds on your windows is the way forward. It's an aesthetically pleasing solution.

I think Chris will have a job to hand the keys back on this one!
I did!!
Had one on test for 3 days and I was smitten, all you had to do was hit the throttle and it was laugh out load fun.
And then you could put it in comfort mode and then drive around very civilised with the family and dog on board, especially around the bumpy old roads south of Cirencester to the M4. (The ride and comfort was better than my A7).
Unfortunately I couldn't justify the BIK to have it as a company car, which is shocking when you spec' it upyikes
And unfortunately they depreciate at an alarming rate too, to consider private purchase.
Ended up going for a new M3 in the end after months of deliberating, as it's relatively good on BIK compared to RS6, and will be good for an occasional track daysmile
Still very jealous of Chris as I think the RS6 is a extremely complete car, in looks, performance, ride etc and very importantly fun, which is sooo impressive for a large family estate.
Hopefully Audi will listen to Chris and only use the RS6 development team on all future RS models.
Maybe I will itch the scratch in a few years time!

I have it on good authority hat x3 different FIA world champions (past and present) have bought this new RS6 with their own hard-earned. A couple of them wanted to remain anonymous so as not to annoy their current employers...

Didn't Colin McRae have one too? Might have been an old RS4 come to think of it.
...says my mate at the pub. Yawn.

If you are Audi, whoever he is, and if a driver from a 'rival' team is seen/photographed/filmed driving an RS6, then surely that is the ultimate endorsement?

And my mate said he overtook a Porsche the other day...

rofl I know! The UK's year-round sunshine and heat make the tinting a no brainer!

Do you wear sunglasses indoors and at night time too? It is a cool look, I must admit.

Super car quick

My next bus defo....once it's lost 10,s of thousands in depreciation over next couple of years....just like my current C6.

Smaller engine but quicker than the previous gen V10 TT....mainly down to being "slightly" lighter and a better gearbox.

Also forgotten is the RS7....even rarer but same engine and running gear.

Been watching some you tube videos and standard C7,s are seriously quick...although as said I think ceramics are a must if you "press on" in a 550bhp two tonne wagon!

I'm sure I read someone that over UK supercar owners, more use an RS6 as their daily than any other single car.

Would make sense, but I can't remember where I got that from though.
Sure Harry Metcalfe alluded to this on his roadtest of the old RS6.

It is an epic car, and the grey works really well in my opinion.

But you'd have to really want one to drop £100k on one, when you'll be able to buy it at 3 yrs old for half that. Who can afford to chuck £50k down the toilet in 3 years?

In my Cooper S it says 95 on the flap but read the manual and it says run it on super for its true performance or something like that.

I tend to run on tesco 100 or Shell.

Stick the RS6 on a rolling road. Show the difference between 95 and 100 on a modern turbo car.

I know 5th gear years back did a similar test and the good ol'scooby had pretty good gains with super.

Mk5 Golf GTI 95RON 172bhp,BP Ultimate 174bhp, Shell Optimax 177bhp

Hawkeye STI 95RON 235bhp, BP Ultimate 248bhp, Shell 249bhp

How much do people spend on induction kits trying to get a 5bhp gain let alone a 14bhp.
Good idea. I shall do just that.
In my experience of using high octane fuel across a range of cars it wasn't only about releasing maximum power, other benefits were noticeably crisper delivery, enhanced engine refinement and measurably better MPG.

Chris, would you run the engine in then try the good stuff for 3 fills, run it down to 'zero miles remaining' then brim it with low octane and report back?

Nah, got aircon if it's hot. But my 18 month year old appreciates the sun protection, most annoying in winter ironically. The mrs appreciated being able to breast feed in private and it keeps her medical gear off display (district nurse). And I appreciate being able to stack the car up with camping gear and not have every tom, dick and 'arry take his pick at the services.

Besides it looks better - chavvy on a Corsa VXR, not so much on a family wagon.

So hang on a minute there Mr Harris, I remember the RS4 video a while back where you said about the B5 RS4 that 'I really, really like it' followed by 'I might think about getting one of these'. Now you're saying that all fast Audi's before the B7 you're not really a fan of?

So which one is it?
Was just trying to dog out the video myself....(b5 owner) 😂

How can it look better when it splits the glasshouse so awkwardly? If that's the look you're after, just buy a van.

These are conspicuous by their numbers on the Costa Del Sol this summer - seem to have replaced Panamera's as this years must have harbour-side accessory.

Absolutely adore that colour - it's reminiscent of the classic Porsche Beige Gray.

Indeed, previous estate didn't, didn't think anything of it at the time but was quite annoying when the little ones came along trying to keep the sun off them. Really glad this one was spec'd originally with it. Really useful and I'd spec it if I was to buy a new car.

Does it look chavvy? I don't think so.

It's a personal thing. But aesthetically I think it looks cleaner. It blends the b and c pillars. I find looking through a vehicle at say a three quarter view messy. I'm the guy that deletes the wiper on a Porsche in favour of clean uninterupted design.

Like I said earlier, theres a reason marketing material always airbrush in tints, even the windscreen sometimes.

Yes, and it's to gain the opposite effect of only tinting part of the glasshouse.
